Greenpeace activists paint boat with oil from BP leak: "ARTIC NEXT?"
Edited on Sun Jun-06-10 10:35 PM by proud2BlibKansan
PORT FOURCHON — Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies and Harbor Police arrested seven Greenpeace activists Monday after two painted “Arctic Next?” messages on a vessel at the port, authorities and environmental activists said.

Greenpeace officials said in a statement that the environmental group’s members were protesting new oil drilling proposed for two Arctic seas off the coast of Alaska in light of the British Petroleum oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

Two members rappelled down the side of the Harvey Explorer, which the group said was headed for Alaska, and painted the ship with oil from the BP leak, Greenpeace said.

Deputies said the messages were directed to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, whose representative was at Port Fourchon on Monday while he and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano were in Galliano.

10. Nothing changed the day after Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus, either.
The efforts to keep issues in front of the public are essential. With the corporate compliant US government and MSM, it takes a lot of courage to keep standing up and attempting to promote awareness.

I applaud them for this.

9. I was gonna ask who owned the boat.
Though I wasn't going to suggest killing 'em. :P

Of course if they want to pick up oil there's plenty of places they could volunteer. (As much as it rankles me to suggest people should clean up BP's mess for free. I think BP should be forced to pay everyone that volunteers.)
