Media reports BP allegedly suppressing pictures of dead dolphins & turtles
The BP PR machine seems to be in high gear. There are suspicions they are working to enforce a media blackout on photographs of wildlife death and destruction.

Today 31% of the Gulf of Mexico is off limits to any fishing. There is a lot of ocean people cannot access. What people may not be seeing is the massive death and destruction being inflicted on the gulf's marine life, birds and wildlife so I want to thank all of you for passing on this modest post so others may know.

Cameron Scott's Thin Green Line blog of the San Francisco Chronicle is expected to release a report tomorrow.

Gulf oil spill's threat to wildlife turns real
By HOLBROOK MOHR and JOHN FLESHER (AP) – 16 minutes ago

ON BARATARIA BAY, La. — The wildlife apocalypse along the Gulf Coast that everyone has feared for weeks is fast becoming a terrible reality.

Pelicans struggle to free themselves from oil, thick as tar, that gathers in hip-deep pools, while others stretch out useless wings, feathers dripping with crude. Dead birds and dolphins wash ashore, coated in the sludge. Seashells that once glinted pearly white under the hot June sun are stained crimson.

Scenes like this played out along miles of shoreline Saturday, nearly seven weeks after a BP rig exploded and the wellhead a mile below the surface began belching millions of gallon of oil.

9. You won't be seeing many thank to those jolly good dispersants
The decision was made to sacrifice marine mammals for the beaches. With EPA backing.

10. Cetacea, please tell us more
Cetacea, knowing more about this won't make me happier. I'm sick over the painful deaths of all the wonderful creatures. Can you please direct me to a thread or a link with information? Beaches are cleanable and can be refurbished with more sand, living creatures are not replaceable.

When I lived in Louisiana there were so many glorious water fowl everywhere. Blue herons (both the big ones and Louisiana blue which are smaller) and egrets lined the canals, roosted in wildlife refuges, flew over my house on their way to their sanctuary at dusk, sweeping their wings. It was like flights of angels.
The roseate spoonbills were very near extinction but in the early 1990s we started seeing a few of them too.

11. Here are some links, though it's not so black-and-white
And I hope that I am wrong.
I suspected this very early on when EPA refused to stop BP from using Corexit, a dispersant banned in England.
If you've noticed, nearly every news report mentions beaches, fish, and birds. There is a total of one dead dolphin photo (excluding the BP whistle blower's photo) one sea turtle (over 224 known dead now) that I know of and I look every day. The dolphin photo taken by the AP photo weeks ago was shot in such a way as to make it look like a dead fish, or small shark... We all know that dolphins, whales, and sea turtles are among the worlds most beloved of animals.(not that the images of the oil-drenched birds are not heart-breaking)
What ever happened to the autopsy reports that were supposed to be performed on the bodies of the first dolphins and sea turtles that were found a month ago? Down the memory hole...

On Thursday CNN had a journalist interview an EPA scientist and she said that the decision to continue with Corexit was an extremely difficult one as they knew it would have a detrimental affect on marine mammals/life.
(not a direct quote)

This is the reason why BP rep Hayward keeps insisting that there no huge underwater, miles long oil plumes. (we know of course that there are)
We also know, from the observations of Cousteau Jr and a news crew that the plumes that he was able to dive into extended from the sea bed right up to the surface. This aspect is unprecedented for an oil spill.

No one is reporting on the underwater plumes any more, save the recent validation from scientists at University of S. Florida...

epa link: http://www.epa.gov/bpspill/dispersants.html

another article, though notice it includes "marine life" as a recipient of the benefits without specifying which marine life.

killing us off one by one. I fail to see a difference between terrorism and what BP is doing to our country at this point.

15. What's to stop someone from taking pictures?
I say SCREW BP. They can't hide reality. These bastards can't police
the entire Gulf of Mexico and the coast.

We MUST get pictures and evidence of their destruction. They cannot
win the PR war by hiding their sick, deplorable actions.

We need citizen photographers in the water and on the coast, taking
pictures of this stuff. It needs to be seen. It HAS to be seen.

We cannot allow BP to cover up this murder.
