Great ASCO Cancer Results Melanoma Treatment
As a toxicologist I watch this stuff pretty closely. Melanoma is nasty stuff, metastasizes and kills people in a hurry. Bristol-Myers Squibb and their newly acquired colleagues at Medarex seem to have a real winner with immune treatment of melanoma with Ipilimumab.

This drug theoretically should work with many different cancers and is of a totally new type. Instead of attacking the cancer directly it kicks the patients immune system into gear to go after it.

I'm really excited to see this and am now looking forward to a lot more from the same class of drugs. Lots of small and large companies are looking into immune modulators now too.

3. That's why we passed "Obama-Care"
over the protests of Caribou Barbie, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Tom Coburn MD, etc. Obama Care should cover it.

Good news re a breast cancer vaccine earlier this week, and prostate-bone problems, lung cancer, now this. Interesting that these multiple pieces of good news all coming out in the same week.

4. The ASCO meeting is the reason
all the drug companies time their high profile candidates for public release around this time because that's when the Oncologists are watching.
