OUTRAGE! Paul McCartney Makes Bush Joke! Right-Winger Heads Explode
BWHAHAHAHAHA... :woohoo:  :woohoo:  :woohoo:

" Right-wingers are seriously up-in-arms about the fact that a Beatle -- a pot-smoking vegan hippie '60s musician -- made light fun of the Republican former president.

This is what happened: Paul McCartney won an award from the Library of Congress, because even though he had probably the third-best solo career as a Beatle, Ringo is not yet properly recognized for his songwriting prowess and the other two are dead. Sir Paul played a concert for President and Mrs. Obama.

At the end of the concert, Paul McCartney made a joke. He said: "After the last eight years, it’s good to have a president that knows what a library is."

This made The Corner's Jay Nordlinger mad. He wrote a blog post headlined "Sir Jerk?" (Hey Paul, the Most Excellent Order of the Jerk Empire called....) Jay is just so mad that people say mean things about the good president, the one he liked. He is sick of name-calling and disrespect! (He does not, I take it, read The Corner regularly.)

Can anyone tell me why people are such schmucks? Why they are so graceless and clueless and nasty? I mean, Paul McCartney’s like the richest, most popular, most honored musician in the world. Does he not have it in him to behave like a gentleman — or at least a non-boor — while he’s being celebrated at the White House? Does he have to be the Wanda Sykes of popular music? Is it not possible to love Obama, as McCartney does, without hating Bush — or at least insulting him on a high, non-political occasion?

I don’t care that “Penny Lane” is a pretty tune, Paul McCartney is a horse’s butt. Let me amend that: He acted like one, on Wednesday night.

20. You nailed it!!
Too bad the repblobs can't see your contrast and comparison photos.

The Right Wing has a long standing hatred of the Beatles. As well they should.

They helped, with just simple and clever and infectious music, open the eyes of so many people!!

You GO Sir Paul!

30. Aw, they're still just suffering from an inferiority complex...
Even a BUNCH of these dicks suffer, fail miserably, and diminish to nothingness when compared to the MIGHTY CLENIS...:wow:

Add to that a FAIRLY ELECTED President whose brain is NOT riddled, raddled, and rotted by drug and alcohol abuse and who doesn't embarrass the country everytime he opens his mouth (at home OR abroad)...

no wonder they're a wee bit sensitive.

Brits don't have the attitude that "Bliss is good and worth striving to attain. Ignorance is Bliss. Therefore Ignorance is a good thing and should be pursued no matter what."

Wait...whut?

:wtf:

34. Plus, perpetual outrage is now their sole electoral strategy
In reality, I doubt Boner et al were particularly offended. But since they have so little to offer us non-billionaires, the only way they can get votes (other than with Diebold machines) is to engender tribal loyalty through a sense of shared grievance. That's why Suffering Christ impersonator Sarah Palin is so popular with the backwash.

12. same ones who cheered Palin for saying Obama 'pals around with terrorists'
Same ones who make fun of his children, wife, and caused a state to pass a nuisance law to prevent more costs for repeatedly providing record of birth.....

Same folks who defended Limbaugh for mocking Michael J. Fox's debilitating illness.

Same folks who cheered the guy who murdered a doctor.

Those are the asses demanding an apology for a quip about bush and library.

My gods, there is no hope for critical thinking from that side of the aisle.

Jay Nordlinger can't be bothered with the Gulf of Mexico; but somebody makes an observation about what a nitwit George W. Bush was and is, and he toddles right off the deep end of poutrage. Sounds like Jay needs his blankie and a nap. He can see David Vitter about getting his diaper changed.

If he would have made a Reagan joke, the wingers would be surrounding the White House with pitchforks demanding we immediately throw McCartney out so he can be properly drawn and quartered...and "he already left, please go home" would NOT be taken as an excuse.

Oh, and I think Bush II pronounces that word as "Liberry", and that he is very uncomfortable around one.

23. what are you so upset about?
So McCartney made a harmless joke. Are we going to implode because of that? On the contrary, he made a comment which reflects sadly on the American People; after all no civilized nation in the world would ever offer a quasi illiterate, incoherent, arrogant, unbelievably stupid cretin like Bush to run for anything higher than public nose picker!
Get off the moan wagon and start thinking like someone who has a brain.

27. Sir Paul, I salute you!
For many years now, you have been a great man, in your philanthropic, caring and moral ways. I think you are quite accurate in your comment, and know the true score.

Great little barb--too bad half the people in the US are too ignorant, prejudiced and stupid to realize how true your comment really is. Some of us can say, with complete agreement, that we have postulated that GWB's library only has one book, and even then, it's a children's book.

With the state of Texas insisting that Phyllis Schlafly have more textbook space than Thomas Jefferson, that the slave trade be referred to the euphemism of "triangular trade," that this country was established as a "Christian" nation, with the state of Arizoona vowing to get rid of all the "illegals" through unmitigated force (they've already killed one Hispanic, Anastacio Hernandez--though it was in San Diego, it just goes to prove that our border patrols regardless of state seem to have the same amount of regard for immigrants that Joe Arpaio does), the RRR intent on bringing the "End Times" to fruition, and bigoted members of a vile group trying to equate themselves to the brave colonists who held the real "Tea Party," the United States has become foul and disgusting.

What can we do to change these things? Frankly, I don't think we can, unless we can throw out the pukes in every state, not just in the federal government, and go back to a simpler, more respectful populace, where choices are private, and hate mongers are silenced simply by ignoring them.

Isn't this what has become a farce? They say they want less government, but instead they demand the government punish pro-choice, demand the government ban all programs aimed at helping the truly poor, and be a watchdog at all borders to keep desperate people from making desperate choices. This doesn't sound like "less" government to me, but a wasteful, racist, hateful and ignorant agenda.

Sir Paul, there is an awful lot in this world now that smoldered in the world in the '60s. While so many fought a different war than those who were in Vietnam, the "peace and love, tolerance and respect of everyone" movement fought an even then corrupt political machine, and in the end, lost. Greed, intolerance and outright hatred triumphed, and still manage to keep hold on people everywhere.

____________________________________________________________________

Sorry about the rant--I've been due to make one for awhile now. ;)

PS: Saw my typo of Arizona as Arizoona, and decided it was fairly accurate, so I left it there.
