WESTMINSTER – After spending more than $80 million and building a major lead in public opinion polls, Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman may finally have met her match Tuesday in the parking lot of the Asian Garden Mall.

The billionaire candidate was delivering her stump speech to about 150 people at an open-air rally when about 50 protesters from the California Nurses Association and its schoolteacher allies interrupted by chanting and blowing whistles just a few dozen yards away.

Flanked by banners reading "Take Back Sac," Whitman finished her speech without acknowledging the protesters and later said she wouldn't let the unions stop her from talking about her plans for the state. But it was clear Tuesday that the nurses union was aiming to play the giant killer again this election year.

"We hope we got people to look at the other side and figure out what's going on," said Long Beach-based nurse Margie Keenan, who took part in the protest. "It's pretty sad. We're the working people of California. ..........(more)

4. I'm glad they did. She is an anathema to the hard-working people of California.

Furthermore NutMeg makes no secret of her desire to do some union-busting, à la Reagan. Her blatant advertising of this fact should make some folks incensed.

5. Arnuld thought he could roll over those nurses too...
but they kicked his sagging white ass into next week and left him with a Croc print up his back side. There is nothing more focused or stronger than a politically riled up Nurse. They are successful because they fight from the heart and they are honest and true in their motives. They have made strides even here in Texas so I wouldn't bet against them.

6. Neither would I. That's why I always bet on the Nurses to get change going in this country.

They are strong and caring individuals who don't deserve to get shafted by politicians and the system. Nurses and teachers are often the folks on the front lines when it comes to fighting back against anti-labor action in this society. I profoundly respect them both.

7. I have worked as a School Nurse....
and am a proud member of the AFT. Let's just say they recognize me and some of my buds in Austin. Individual Nurses have taken on the IRS single handedly and won. They have banded together and won cases in Winkler Tx and NOLA against major odds. If I had to put money on this dog fight-it is on the Nurses and teachers.
