Yuck: "Atlas Shrugged" Begins Filming
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/17333/-atlas-shrugged-begins-filming

Entrepeneur John Aglialoro scored the film rights to the work back in 1992 but attempts to adapt the 1100-page property have encountered numerous problems and false starts over the years. The likes of Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Faye Dunaway have also been attached at one point or another.

As a result, a fed up Aglialoro is proceeding along his own agenda and is independently financing a June 11th production start in Los Angeles on the first in a quadrilogy of features based on the objectivism-spouting property.

John Aglialoro: Number 10 on Forbes list of richest executives. Bet he's a teabagger.

34. More like a new "Left Behind"
Will probably star some C-listers like Stephen Baldwin and Victoria Jackson, have shitty production values, and a godawful screenplay.

Will have to do like Glenn Beck did for his "movie" -- rent the theaters for a fee, then charge some outlandish ticket price for the "exclusive event."

Then straight to DVD.

3. I loved that book...
It's a novel... it's not real. The ending really got to me... but not enough to think this book was anything other than fiction.

I have more respect for Trekkies than I do Randies.

4. A quadrilogy?
It would take two full-length movies just to cover that awful and painfully-long radio broadcast.

For three hours.

6. See, now someone HAS to turn the game "Bioshock" into a film
It's Randian Objectivism carried to its logical extreme. That, and the whole "falling apart underwater Art Deco utopia" theme is some GREAT eye candy.

16. Would you kindly...
...elaborate on that?

My son loved that game, and while I didn't play it, I sort of kibbitzed with him over the couple days he was immersed in it, watching it unfold -- movie-like -- i.d.'ng the soundtrack songs for him, etc...

20. The linked story also says this:
The surprise here though is that no-one has yet been cast, and while Theron and Maggie Gyllenhaal are "being courted" to play the lead Dagny Taggart, the production will go forward with unknowns if needs be as financing is already in place.

Here's hoping they lose a lot of money. Capitalism, as it should be.

26. Director with almost no track record, no cast in place with 2 weeks to go
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0689324/

and they've waited to film it until 'raw capitalism' has had its most obvious failure since the absurd book was written. And he wants to string it out over 4 movies. I think this has the potential of the 'Left Behind' books/films. Though they had churches to show the things in. What are they going to do, show these at Goldman Sachs board meetings?

31. Atlas Shat.
Great. I can see the crowds now - a bunch of pasty Kansas-white males with bad hair, tri-corner hats, Gadsden shirts, flags, fanny packs and enough Teabag-tude to sink a Lipton plant. All to see a gaseous four-day extravaganza of selfishness, bad acting and directing likely. Special.
