ETA: But then, I don't watch a whole lot of TV, either. But oiled birds don't inspire me to look away.

7. It's not as bad as the dead American bodies and dying children of Katrina,
but it may be as caustic to the coastal ecosystems. It is frustrating, maddening, and exasperating.

17. We already have suicidal fishermen, and sick cleanup workers.
Are there are many children living in Grand Isle? Other places the spill will roam? This is a food chain collapse coming on top of global warming. You really think there won't be as many or more dead Americans? Dead children?

They won't die all in one place, all in a few days. But they will die of this. And we already have people believing it wasn't as bad as Katrina. It will be.

35. Yes. I did comment on that. When the oil is covering the homeless
and the press and government turns its head then the disgust factor will be equal. Katrina was the most callous US event I have ever witnessed. We can still hope that the BP disaster does not reach that degree although it may be more costly to our environment.

22. hate to say this but sticking your head in the sand is part of the problem
as hard as it may be to watch, you must

you must allow the images to affect your emotions as they will

only with the anger and disgust will real change come

29. I watched 3 weeks ago, and 2 weeks ago and last week
It's not like the suffering isn't bothering me - it's the exact reason why I look away from the screen!

Rage, anguish, despair - I feel them all already. No need to compound it further. It's already quite acute.

next time you fill up at the pump picture what we are doing to the environment. We are all to blame. Supply and demand that's it that's all there ever will be. Enjoy.
