NY Times has changed the scale on their oil map.

I really don't have much to comment about this. Just FYI: Up until a few days ago, this map was showing only roughly the top left quarter of the area that is shown now.

It's in the gulf stream now.

3. WTF, NOAA's only reporting a little over 6 million gallons spilled to date?
Even BP is putting the estimate at 80 million. :wtf:

4. NOAA Goes strictly from satellite data
Their estimate is only what's floating on the top. Dispersents slow that number down considerably because of how they act, which is to simply disperse the surface oil to under the surface.

That should tell you something about the magnitude of this. 6.2 million gallons floating on the top and anywhere from 29 to 74.1 million gallons under the surface.
