Larger breasts correlated to larger tips according to study.
Okay, not terribly surprising, but I was surprised by this: "Though most customers say they reward service, Lynn reports that quality of service has less than a 2-percent effect on the actual tip."

And disturbed by this: “It also informs management decisions about who to hire,” Lynn added, explaining that servers who earn higher tips are more desirable employees because they are likely to stay at their job longer. Higher tips also indicate higher customer approval of the server, and by association, the establishment in general.

Prof. Michael Lynn, marketing and tourism, surveyed 374 waitresses about their perceived “sexiness,” breast size and other physical characteristics and correlated these results with the amount of tips the waitresses received.

His results indicate that evolutionary instinct trumps the ideals many patrons profess. Though most customers say they reward service, Lynn reports that quality of service has less than a 2-percent effect on the actual tip.

Instead, he found that waitresses with larger bra sizes received higher tips — as did women with blonde hair and slender bodies.

While this may seem self-evident to some, Lynn said that “it’s always important to test what seems like obvious cultural wisdom.”

Lynn believes his research, conducted from a wide range of women, is important because it “fills in some holes” in the area of tipping behavior.

“This study uses a broader array of stimuli as they appear three-dimensionally ... to themselves and their customers,” he said.

Lynn explained that his study could be useful to a potential waitress as it can help gauge her “prospects in the industry.”

“It also informs management decisions about who to hire,” Lynn added, explaining that servers who earn higher tips are more desirable employees because they are likely to stay at their job longer. Higher tips also indicate higher customer approval of the server, and by association, the establishment in general.

2. Like I said, not really surprising, but actual service only accounting for 2% of the tip is.
I must be an exception. I usually tip 20% but deduct seriously for bad service.

3. Was This Study Reported In "Duh" Magazine?
"'Dutch girls must be punished for having big boobs.' Now you do not punish someone, Dutch or otherwise, for having big boobs."

"If anything, they should be rewarded."

"They should be equal."

"Women are equal."

"I've always said that."

4. Sounds like someone spent his sabbatical drunk at Hooters and had come up with some last minute BS
Hardly groundbreaking research, Doc.

9. What bullshit
Maybe in 'breastaurants' like Hooters, but not in the rest of the restaurant biz. Statistically most patrons are hetero couples, and statistically (like it or not) more women make financial decisions than men.

Women tip based on service, period.

Bullshit study

10. I'm pissed. Never has my Huge Johnson given me any advantage whatsoever...
Never has my Huge Johnson earned me a job or a promotion

Never has my Huge Johnson caused a Rich Woman to want to sleep with me

Never has my Huge Johnson resulted in a reduced bar tab or cheaper dinner...

On the other hand:

Never has my Huge Johnson caused anyone to question my intelligence

Never has my Huge Johnson resulted in anyone accusing me of sleeping with the Boss.

All in All?

Big Tits might be nice, but I'll take my Huge Johnson any day.

11. And what about male waiters and women tippers?
People who have worked in the service industry tend to tip well.

16. Sad for women how seriously (not!) this thread is being taken
But I guess that's the part that really shouldn't surprise me.

The implication here, for those who care to listen, is that if you're a woman, the quality of the job you do really has no meaning. You will have more success if you are pretty or if you have big boobs than you will if you're smart, educated, talented, creative, etc, etc, etc.

I know the guys in thread are joking about how their "Johnsons" never got them advancement but I wish for once they would at least try to consider how it would feel to be judged by that and that alone.

17. misthink. the issue is the serious efforts to make it about that and that alone. that is what this
is about.

it is no game. it is not done lightly. the whole effort last decade is to accomplish exactly that. we are in a world that feeds upon itself. if we can make women only about their boobs, then well.... cant really take it further. not in the mood for a flame fest.

this study is by the evolutionary bahaviorist that has been working so hard, study of boobs after study of boobs to reinforce and promote that is all a woman is. and so many men, and women, buy into it. the absurdity is it is exactly the opposite of evolution.

18. Not shocking that it makes a difference
I do think people tend to think more "attractive" people are nicer, and they are more quick to forgive poorer service if they are flirted with a little.

(Observation on my part. No studies done to prove said assertion.)
