What if This Nut "Ayn" Rand Paul Wins?
Can a man who believes in segregated facilities really be elected to the United State Senate in 2010?

1. Donations to Conway's campaign from web progressives like us would go
a long way toward blocking a nutbag like Rand Paul from ever reaching the upper chamber.

I think that would be money well spent, too.

2. I'm in....I saw Conway last night, he is extremely articulate, forceful and convincing.

he's our guy! If KY still votes for Rand Paul, then there are more idiots in KY than I thought! What puzzles me is that more Dems voted in KY than Republicans, and Paul came out on top!!!

4. Yes. Conway is impressive. I think his chances are pretty good, since Rand
is such a kook, and with a little pocket money to spend on a statewide race, I think this is a very possible blue pick-up seat.

6. I hope his chances are good, don't know enough of the local politics but he was thoughtful and
seemed quite bright.... so here's hoping this seat turns blue. If it stays red, we all lose.

7. Agree -- Conway is worth supporting in and of himself.
Coupled with the horror of handing the Baggers a victory headline in November, Conway looks even better.

3. IF he wins, he will be one of 100.
One racist bigot anti-government asshole out of 100 Senators (and still in the minority of the minority party).

Still, we should work as hard as we can to keep him out of the Senator's club.

5. The only new thing here is that he admits it.
We haven't had that sort in the senate since the 60's. Most of the old school segregationists kept their mouths shut after 1970 or so.

8. I'm of the belief that there are prosegregation senators now in the senate.
The issue probably never come up so they won't have to answer these questions.

9. He is a consistent libertarian - if you own a house or business its yours to do with as you will
Edited on Thu May-20-10 07:55 AM by stray cat
I don't agree - but he is consistent - public owned has to fit certain standards but the government can not demand the same of private companies or to a further extreme your house.

You can discriminate against a conservative evangelical republican and not hire him/her to work for you if you have a small business but not if you are a government agency.

10. There is a difference between one's house and business.
Whether libertarians like it or not, businesses are in the public square because they interact in commerce with the general public. If the public (we the people) want to make rules of engagement in exchange for dealing with the publc, it is our right as indicated by the Constitution through our representatives and the congressional right to regulate commerce and levy taxes.

12. That Was The Rationale Of Congress
They invoked the Insterstate Commerce Clause to eliminate segregation.

13. And could we hold our collective nose long enough to work with him to end a war or two?
I would hope that his being out of the Republican mainstream would be good for something.
