Giuliani emerging as favorite of gays
Source: AP

Rudy Giuliani emerged as a favorite among many members of the GOP's largest gay organization, who cited his record on social issues, taxes and defense.

However, delegates to the
Log Cabin Republicans annual convention said Friday they also fear that the former New York mayor, in his bid to capture the Republican presidential nomination, might be waffling as he reaches out to the more conservative GOP voters who hold sway in the primaries.

"Mainstream Republican voters and moderate voters are going to vote for you. Don't tilt to the right," said Frank Ricchiazzi, who helped found the Log Cabin group 30 years ago.

Ricchiazzi, who wore an "I Love Rudy" button, cited Giuliani's remarks on abortion during the GOP presidential candidates' debate Thursday night.

1. MIGHT be waffling...
...I'd be willing to bet any member of the Log Cabin Republicans that during the course of the GOP primaries, Rudy Ghouliani will not only waffle, he'll flip flop, cavort, saunter, do a 180 and a triple luntz in his attempts to seize upon the extreme right and reassure the religiously insane that he will indeed beat back the imminent threat of those "damn queers"...

The extreme right and their relationship with the GOP is NOTHING like the "extreme left" and the Democratic Party. While the Democratic nominees will do everything in their power to not be labelled liberal and tell the left that "they've got no where else to go", the GOP will do everything they can to cater to their ideaological extremities.

3. I have always thought that Rudy would have to be the one that Dems would

4. Log cabin republicans have a hell of a masochistic streak. Rudy's
got no conscience. He may dress up in drag but if it will get him a couple of vote he'd burn gays at the stake and dance around the flames.

6. "MIGHT be waffling"? He already is. He now opposes civil unions.
I believe he was in favor of them before he announced his Presidential candidacy.

9. People can be stupid as well as gay
Anyone who is gay who trusts Rudy in his quest for the WH, or if he actually manages to get there is living in an alternative reality and believes pigs DO fly.

That from the mouth of my son, who is a member of the gay community, and is simply passing along what he and most of his friends believe. I concur.

15. What's their choice? The other Republican candidates would make homosexuality illegal
given the chance (and I think for some of them that could include the state of being, not just sexual acts). More interesting to know would be how many gay people still contemplate voting Republican - a tiny proportion, I'd think.

I hope they are loud and clear in their support.
