***Independent scientists analyzing the slick set the estimate at 25,000 barrels a day, and once BP released the underwater video, they calculated flow rates as high as 80,000 barrels a day.

12. I don't think it's that much...

I don't know if this is accurate either, but I found it on a DU post. It says the estimate is 2,000,000 GALLONS per day, which is still too much, but the estimate is about 60-70 million gallons since it started. Or 17,330 dump truck loads total, or 500 dump truck loads per day, and it would be about 1/3rd of a CUBIC mile in total !
