"Tennessee House fails to revive English license bill."
yay!!! My own Tennessee state government is now officially LESS racist than the state government of Arizona!

House fails to revive Tenn. English license bill

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - House Republicans failed to revive legislation that would require Tennessee's driver's license test to be given only in English.

Republican Rep. Stacey Campfield of Knoxville tried to attach an amendment to an existing bill on the House floor Monday evening. The proposal would have required individuals legally and temporarily in the United States to take the driver's license test in 1 of 4 languages offered in Tennessee. Others would have to take the test in English.

However, lawmakers voted 51-40, mostly along party lines, to table the measure.

Last week, the House Budget Subcommittee voted 12-3 to defer similar legislation until December 2010, essentially killing the measure. The companion to that proposal passed the Senate 22-10 earlier this month.

4. Stacey Campfield is a joke.
I live in Knoxville, however, thankfully, I am NOT in his district (I have Democrat Harry Tindell as my rep.).

He's also running to replace Tim Burchett (a fairly decent old-school Republican who is running for Knox County mayor) in the senate and I hope the insane Knoxvillians who keep voting him in a representative are out-voted by those of us who KNOW this man is a joke.
