New Victim Accuses Roman Polanski of 'Sexual Abuse'
Actress Says Director Abused Her When She Was 16, He Was on The Lam

<snip>

"A British actress who starred in a Roman Polanski film charged today that the director "sexually abused" her when she was 16 years old in his Paris apartment.

The incident allegedly happened in 1982, four years after Polanski fled the United States to because he feared a California judge was going to send him to prison on charges he raped a 13-year-old girl.

"Mr. Polanski sexually abused me in the worst possible way when I was just 16, four years after he fled the U.S. to avoid sentencing for his crime," Charlotte Lewis, now 44, told reporters.

Four years later in 1986, Lewis starred in Polanski's comedy "Pirates."

Lewis did not provide any details of the alleged encounter, including whether she was given drugs or raped. She did say there were "similarities" to the 1977 case, in which Polanski gave 13-year-old Samantha Geimer champagne and Quaaludes before raping and sodomizing her."

3. pretty sure the aoc is like 15 in france
or at least it was at the time. it's 16 most places

still creepy but not actually illegal.

if it was rape that's another thing, it's a bit ambiguous: "he forced himself on me"

4. "Forced himself on me" is NOT ambiguous. If sexual acts were forced on her, the age of consent
Edited on Fri May-14-10 05:49 PM by pnwmom
is irrelevant.

5. alright. i wouldn't be surprised if he did rape her
in the article it says

"Lewis did not provide any details of the alleged encounter, including whether she was given drugs or raped."

Hence the ambiguity.

8. The ambiguity is in the writer's mind, not the victim's. I think the writer should have ended
the sentence with the word "drugs."

Let people draw their own conclusions.

10. maybe, i think you may be right
it's a strange thing to say, the quoted bits of the woman's comments certainly sound like she was saying she was raped.

it's hard to judge without having the full interview
