and destroy an ecosystem because of negligence
and once again hoping to get off with a small fine.

Good thing it wasn't a DUI or possession of illegal drugs or I be in jail.

3. Thanks for the OP.
Yesterday a young man who posts here on DU had a long saga about how he gotten caught drinking while underage, and how he still had not done either his community service, or had the ability to pay the fine for his misconduct.

It was a first offense, and you might think maybe he could have just gotten off with straight probation.

But instead through not having a decent court appointed attorney, and because of this having happened at a time when his parents are under employed, and he is in school full time, he is very worried. Doesn't know the ropes about such legal matters, and he is sweating out about his future.

Meanwhile the Executives at Halliburton and BP are mildly inconvenienced that they have to come in and testify before Congress, thus missing out on whatever games of racquet ball or golf they had scheduled over the last week. And I am fairly sure that their concern over their possible punishment is minimal.

What sort of world is this?

One young man has a beer, and may face jail time, and on the other hand, some very "mature" community leaders and respected "business men" destroy the Gulf of Mexico, and kill people, and they are off scot free.

6. Oh come on, you're rich

No way do you go to jail for DUI or drugs. You get rehab.

The only way you go to jail is if you piss off someone richer than you. Thank Goddess that those people you killed were just a bunch of nobodies.

13. I like those but the one I found I think
Kicks ass and would sell even better. The coal companies got
away with criminal negligence or manslaughter
and had to pay small fines in comparison to their earnings

Being of a certain age, I remember the photo vividly, and what a stir it caused. Wouldn't cause a blink today. So sad. The Freepers would defend it as an effective interrogation technique.

14. I confess that I didn't.
I thought that it was a parody of the movie "Zoolander" gas fight Parody, and only now realize that this was not a spoof of a spoof, but a spoof of a tragic moment in the history of war (With the same thing now happening in Afghanistan, according to Seymour Hersh.)

Thanks for enlightening me.

15. Love your graphic
Do you have it on a sticker where we could purchase it and start placing on BP gas station pumps across the nation (right next to the sticker from the farm bureau that shows the pump was inspected on such and such date)?
