She came from a long line of staunch, old fashioned conservatives. Sadly enough, her father is a rabid Republican with no common sense of principles on the issues - basically he is the personification of a Freeper.

Imagine his disappointment in seeing his daughter go from the same sort to a true progressive. We get along just fine, but politics are verboten when we are together - and it keeps things nice and peaceful. Although I do enjoy when they come over and gauging his reaction based on my current political book on the coffee table or the Nation or Progressive magazines scattered about the house.

14. I had read it, I guess I just don't understand the cultural

significance of people who would choose to congregate at a chick-fil-A. If it had said Chez-Pierre or Saks 5th Avenue, that joke I would have gotten. If it was supposed to have something to do with country Hick, tooth-missing Reps, I would have chosen a different fast-food place. I just don't see Chick-fil-As very often......I guess I live in the wrong part of Tallahassee, so I just don't know what the clientelle is supposed to be and what the joke is.
