Short PSA: DirecTv has picked up Free Speech TV.
Edited on Tue May-11-10 09:22 PM by EFerrari
And that means, people who use DirecTv will have access to Laura Flanders, Thom Hartmann and Amy Goodman and GayUSA on their teevees, plus all the other good stuff FSTV runs a latter this year.

Fyi. :)

Edit to correct info in OP

1. I have enjoyed FSTV for a long time on Dish. Highly recommend it.

Very good news. Another sliver for our side
ETA my recommend seems to have negated some troll.

3. I don't and FSTV hasn't updated their site yet.
I'd email on of those three hosts for the fastest answer. If I find it, I'll pm you.

6. Okay. The bad news: It isn't launched yet. From Thom's site:
"Rojas added that Free Speech TV plans a public announcement during its Membership Drive that the network and DIRECTV have recently signed a carriage agreement. “For over ten years, Free Speech TV has been looking toward the day when we could join forces with the country’s largest direct broadcast satellite operator. We eagerly anticipate the launch of our DIRECTV channel later this year.” Details of the carriage arrangement will be released closer to the launch date."

The good news is that the deal's ink is dry. I better edit the OP.

10. Not up yet but their programming can be streamed 24/7
from their site.

H-E, do you remember when we were talking about transcripts, maybe a week ago?

I was think of FSTV in particular. Amy has good, prompt ones. Laura and Thom don't. And when I go to their site, I don't see anything about CC. So, I emailed them today. Maybe we can get something going here. The transcripts may be up to each show but if FSTV lent some support, maybe there could be CC for these shows. Can't hurt to ask. :)

7. It isn't launched yet. When it goes, FSTV has a television page
where you can look up the channel.

15. I think Hartmann said what channel it was on either Monday or Tuesday's show....
I'll try and check up on it again as I don't remember it at the moment. 378 or something like that I think I think.

11. Great news!!
I changed to Direct TV from Dish a couple years back so I could get the MLB package. Making the change, I really began to miss FSTV. This is good news.

13. I love Free Speech TV and Link TV
My basic DISH gives me both those channels, but not MSNBC (but FOX NEWS and MILITARY channel)

Maybe I will switch to DirectTV

14. This was in the works at least since January this year...
I heard this being leaked out from someone at FSTV during a local fund raiser here then in Portland. Kept my mouth shut like many others did so that we didn't jinx a good thing coming later. Happy to hear it's now coming to fruition. Though I'll probably still stick with Dish for the time being... They have MSNBC in HD too. I don't know if DirecTV does yet or not?

16. Dish subscriber here
We have had FSTV for a while. Even Comcast cable had it in my area, though not all day like Dish.

17. We'll be on DirecTV in June!
It's all true--Free Speech TV will be on DirecTV in June and our channel will be right in the middle of the big corporate news channels like FOXNews and MSNBC. Stay tuned and thanks for your enthusiasm! In the meantime, there's a lot going on at our website (www.freespeech.org)--we're in the middle of our spring membership drive, we just launched a Progressive Action Calendar for progressive organizers to post their events and actions (some will even be aired on TV), and we keep adding new content to our Video On-Demand channel. Help us spread the word, and feel free to drop me a line anytime! --caleb/FSTV ([email protected])
