3. The explosion of the oil rig in the Gulf and its consequences.
Add to that every oil spill that has occurred from an offshore oil rig.

4. on one of the networks, they said drilling supporters were right
they said they were right to say drilling was safe because there hadn't been a serious accident in 30 years or whatever.

Which makes no sense, of course, but they said it. (Oh, and they didn't mention the people that were saying drilling wasn't safe).

15. There was a MAJOR accident last September!
And they would have known that if they weren't so head in the sand parochial that they don't pay any attention to what happens in the world beyond the US border.

5. Which changes nothing

Oil companies will continue cutting costs making oil well drilling less safe and congresscritters will continue blessing them and continue ignoring us treehuggers.

7. How's That Oily-Drilly Thing Working For Ya???
The wingnuts will never admit their beloved big oil puppetmasters have done anything wrong here. It's just a little "spill"...the price you pay for being able to drive your hummer...the "price of freedom" :puke:

Now watch the oil companies claim shortages and the price of a gallon goes up to $4...and, right on cue, watch the GOOP shitstains blame this administration. These fukwads have no moral compass...

12. When that scumbag Limbaugh can turn around
and blame the environmentalists, we know we're facing a complete inversion of reality.

You're right - all that matters to them are money and power.

13. I do hope all of this puts a stop
to the exploratory drilling by Shell in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas this summer. From what I understand -- and someone please correct me if I'm wrong -- the moratorium is on NEW leases and exploration, not ones that are already approved and scheduled.
