AZ law and the Republican Ciivil War

ok here is another scary parallel, shall we call it echo, of US History. Anybody know anything about the 1850s and slavery? The Whig party was divided right down the middle over slavery as a practice that was inimical to the Republic. Before anybody says it the Democrats were pretty unified in being the party of doing nothing about it.

Yet, this virtual civil war in the RNC over immigration is a definite echo, and might once again signal the final split between the two major factions of the RNC. Remember kiddies, the RNC came from the MODERATE and PRO END of slavery faction of the RNC... (Yes I know my irony meter is going off the scale)... but if they don't take any significant gains in November, that will also be another echo... as the whigs became more and more radical... (and the party of No) well them echos are ringing in my ears.

2. If they don't make significant wins it will be ugly on the other side...

All the media is claiming that Republicans are poised to win big, if not have a wave election. Few people actually talk about the ugly internecine warfare in Republican Land.

3. One more thing... as I think about this

the RNC was the MODERATE version of the WHIG...

Today we are saying the radicals take over, but we are seeing the moderates, see Chirst... leave the party in droves.

So yes the parallel is getting stronger. Today they are running as members of the independent party, or democrats (a certain Pennsylvania Senator) but soon we may see the formation of a THIRD moderate conservative party. At that point expect the... ahem split also in the DNC... as our Conservadems may also find a new home.

Remind me, when did that happen also? Oh yeah... 1852... except that back then it was the Dems that also believed slavery was inimical to the Republic...
