LSU student arrested for threatening to kill Hillary Clinton

A 19-year-old LSU student from Shreveport is being held on a $1 million bond, accused of telling a fellow student that he would kill U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton when she visited Baton Rouge during a campaign stop.

Richard Ryan Wargo, 10301 Evangeline, Shreveport, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of terrorizing, communicating false information of planned arson, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

State District Judge Mike Erwin set the $1 million bond Thursday.

Clinton, D-N.Y., and a declared presidential candidate, is scheduled to be in Baton Rouge Saturday to give a speech during an event with the National Conference of Black Mayors. An arrest warrant for Wargo issued Thursday by LSU Police does not mention the mayors’ conference, or give a specific day or time when the threat might be carried out.

The warrant says a classmate of Wargo’s told an LSU police officer the two students were talking when Wargo made the threat.

Wargo told the other student that he was interested in committing an act of terrorism, and that it would be a "national event," the warrant says. He asked if the other student was interested in participating, the warrant says.

When asked if the act of terrorism was politically motivated, Wargo nodded his head, and said, “Hillary Clinton,” the warrant says.

The threat itself is a crime. If they find any evidence that he could have carried it out, or that he was already planning it, he gets in worse trouble.

As for proof, this is not your father's Oldsmobile. They don't need no stinkin' proof anymore.
