Pheonix is also bidding to have the 2012 Democratic National Convention. 4 Peaks Brewing Co. 480-303-9967, Greyhound Corp, PF Chang, Petsmart, UHaul Corp, Ramada Inn Corp., Sky Mall corp., Shamrock Farms all are major Arizona corporations. Do not give them your business until this vile law is rescinded.

1. DNC should cross off Phoenix off their list - too easy.
DNC convention should be somewhere in the southeast region. Denver was the host of '08 DNC convention.

Hmmm..

5. Hey, that can't be helped but you can still spend as little as possible when you're there.
Or better yet, try to support Latino-owned businesses as much as possible.:hi:

4. I disagree. This hurts regular working people and others just as much.
It reminds me of the kinds of punitive actions the US has taken against other countries.

There has to be a better way to hurt the evil ones.

A way that doesn't also impact others in that state.

:patriot:

11. Were you also against boycotting South Africa? That hurt regular people too, after all....
in the short term at least. Which, I suppose, is really the crux of it all.

15. Would you support a boycott of Washington state if it was happening there?
I think that may be the distinction.

I also don't think the boycott makes a difference to the hateful people in power doing these things.

If there's a better way, I support any better way.

16. Arizona Congressman Grijalva called for a boycott of his own state.
I think it is in order and appropriate.

6. Where are you getting your information?
4 Peaks is not a "major Arizona corporation". It is a neighborhood bar in Tempe. If that is your idea of a major corporation you have a serious problem.

10. Yes they are what is known as a micro-brewery
Two bars -- one in Tempe and one in Scottsdale. Not going to change the world I'm afraid.

14. Change starts from the bottom up, especially 2 bars
Yes, boycotting the two bars will do A LOT more than the major companies. The large companies have the money to hold out for awhile but when the smaller ones feel the pressure (faster because of fewer reserves) they will in turn put the pressure on lawmakers to repeal this racist "law". So yes, it is changing the world. It's a shame some innocent people will feel the adverse effect of the boycott but it's for a long-term good. It worked in Civil Rights, it worked in South Africa and it will surely work with these weak, feeble-minded, racist and vulnerable lawmakers. When the rest of the country starts paying $7 for a head of lettuce because no one will pick AZ's exports, you can be sure the rest of the country will put pressure on them, if only for their own selfish needs, and you will see the world change. Latinos, like many other races, come in all shades. I wonder what happens when police mistake a few of mccain's relatives for illegals and they are asked to PROVE they are Americans.

17. Ahh Genius
The only people boycotting would be local AZ people not anyone from out of state. So should we boycott every bar in AZ? Why just these two? Because the OP happened to put them down on some list? So we are supposed to boycott every bar in the state. Right. So that means we have to boycott every single business in the state. Where are we going to get our food? Start growing it? Kill neighborhood dogs and cats for meat? Walk to work or school since we can't buy gas from the corporations in AZ that sell it. People have such BS for brains.

8. In another thread I gave this e-mail out
suggesting we tell the Arizona Chamber of Commerce why we won't be spending any vacation time there
( even if we are not planning to in the first place, they do not have to know that)

Chamber of Commerce and Industry
1850 North Central Avenue
Suite 1433
Phoenix, Arizona 85004
ph: 602.248.9172
f: 602.265.1262
email: [email protected]

Here is their web page with a nice e-mail form already to fill out:

http://www.azchamber.com/contactus/

So I filled it out, saying if I had wanted to visit East Germany, I would have done so before the wall fell, the one that REAGAN wanted down.

12. I love Arizona to pieces, but I have to agree with you. This law is shit.
On PBS News Hour tonight, they were covering the bill and some RW moron was saying, "Enough is enough!", and I thought to myself, "Excuse me, sir, can you speak a little more slowly? I'm not the smartest person, and you're using such big complicated words and concepts." :sarcasm: I mean, it's like saying, "Green is green!" But since real discussion is hard, they resort to jingles and rhymes. Like the clowns they are.

13. I just pissed on my Arizona Ash tree. It felt good...
As a sign of protest I 'watered' the Arizona Ash tree in the back yard. Maybe I'll send one of its dead branches to Arizona's governor and tell her I don't even want anything named Arizona near my home. I drove through Arizona last summer, but never again. I'll drive around the damned state of red necked, tea bagging, right wing conservatives.
