Your tax dollars at work: 8 arrested on various drug charges at the 420 Festival in Santa Margarita

And for these 8 arrests, the following NINE agencies were involved: The investigating agencies included the San Luis Obispo County Narcotic Task Force, U.S. Forrest Service, CHP, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department, and the police departments of Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande.

How much money do you think went into busting those 8 low level users?

Thousands? Tens of Thousands?.....Can somebody teach these jackasses the phrase cost/benefit analysis?

1. Again, why I never intend on going into law 'enforcement'.

2. I wish every agency had an unrecommend button.
In a perfect world, when they did something stupid like this, we could let them know.

3. Legalize the use of the drugs and police will not be required by law...
to arrest users.

The cost benefit analysis must be made at the level of the legislature. Police do not make the law, but they are legally required to enforce it.

5. Agreed and hopefully that is changing.
Not because they see the futility of the War on Drugs, but because of the tax revenue.

7. Though I detest the use of drugs, I support the legalization...
Ultimately, it is the only real thing we can do to solve the escalating violence.

4. Was extra money spent on this?
If all these officers from these nine agencies were going to be on duty getting paid anyway, was any "extra" money spent on these busts?

6. A baggie of pot in your pocket? "You're under arrest."
Strap your body with loaded, open-carry weapons in a public park? "Move along, people, nothing to see here..."
