Community radio goes solar in Tucson.
Wayward daughter just called to tell me my fav radio station, KXCI community supported radio in Tucson is celebrating going solar.

The station is in a little old house at the edge of downtown. Fantastic programming and a nice little front porch. Now, with solar panels

Join your friends at KXCI for the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on Thursday. We'll be marking this milestone with a full day of special programming and a commissioning ceremony for our new solar panels (shown above) that were installed by Technicians for Sustainability (http://tfssolar.com/).

From 8am to midnight, we'll have special interviews and segments with local and national environmental leaders, special guest deejays, and of course, a ton of Earth-friendly music.

From 5pm to 7pm, you are invited to join us at the station (220 South Fourth Avenue) for a commissioning ceremony for our new solar panels. We've have speakers, station tours, free gifts for the first 100 visitors, solar-powered pizza from Brooklyn Pizza, and snacks from our friends at Sunflower Farmers Market. You'll even be able to stick your head through the roof hatch for an up-close and personal look at the new solar panels.

Times are local AZ time which is same as Pacific Daylight time

Check out their schedule. Really great station.... now in solar.

Radio that's good to support!
