Send your good vibes for my niece, who may not live to see the sunrise

I have a beautiful niece, who is dying of cancer and who is now in her final part of her 14-year old life. Her name is Eloise.

She has been a strong soul fighting this dreadful disease for the past two years and has been brave and still smiling as she went through so much treatment. Her cancer, which started in her jaw, has now spread throughout her whole body, even after much treatment and the best doctors that were dedicated to helping her out. My sister and her husband are now with her at home and trying to make sense of this utterly incomprehensible tragedy.

My family has been told that her passing is imminent. But being an optimist, I am fully expecting some kind of miracle to come but am also resigned to the horrific fact that Eloise will not survive.

So if you have a loved one, a child, or just view how precious life is, give a special hug to that person or pass some good vibes to those around you with a dedicated effort for Eloise.

She would smile knowing that.

My daughter has a birth defect, (thank goodness she is on the really functional side of the spectrum with it), but we make regular trips to Children's Hospital in Oakland for tests..
it never ceases to amaze me the kids that we see in various stages of treatment and those we meet in the day hospital.
Many of these kids display a strength of spirit and bravery and even joy in the face of adversity that I have never seen. They rock, and I am sure Eloise put up a great fight and gave strength to all of you as well...

No words can say what I feel in my heart. I know what it is like to see your child and loved ones, who are positive and optimistic in the face of the odds, facing death. My son was 26 when he died after his 1.5 year fight of a brain tumor and my husband who was diagnosed two months after our son was diagnosed died 18 months after our son. They both were brave and they both had good friends and family to encourage them.

I have been told my son was truly an angel. He loved children and now he is in heaven playing with the new children arriving.

I like to believe that. I shall ask him to watch over Eloise, here on Earth and then in Heaven.

And remember modern medicine doesn't look for all
possibilities, just pharms and surgery.
