9th Circuit to become even more liberal

The Senate Judiciary will be voting on the nomination of Goodwin Liu within weeks for a new seat created by the Court Security Improvement Act of 2007.

Bush Sr appointee Judge Andrew Kleinfeld will take senior status in July and create another opening for Obama to fill and reduce Republican appointees to 10.

Obama has nominated Clinton District appointee Mary Murguia to fill a seat vacated by a previous Clinton appointee.

One seat remains vacant after Reagan appointee Judge Stephen Trott took senior status in 2004 for which Obama is yet to name a nominee.
