Every day - a week at most - the screw gets turned up a notch.
It started last summer when Dick Armey, funded by megacorp money opposed to health care, whipped these mouth breathers into a frenzy.

And the Democrats did nothing. Birthers and death panels and completely off the chart kookiness, and the Democrats did nothing.

It was the summer of *our* discontent.

It arguably cost us real health care reform.

Yet that was not enough. They continued to be fired up by nefarious interests and self interests. Palin. Gingrich. Beck. Rushbo. Waterloo. "You Lie".

Camos and guns and holsters and concealed carry.

Militias. Now they're talking about new state militias. And no one is brave enough to say "Stop it, already". Instead, "mainstream" political hacks are actually afraid to say they oppose the kooks.

Monday is fifteen years hence. And how insane that, right there in Oklahoma, a kook is forming a militia to *oppose the federal government*. Local politicians are openly fearful of saying anything in opposition to the kooks for fear they wind up like the defeated republican in upstate New York. Or worse. That they become the target of Rushbo on his radio hate fest. Or the punchline to the slogan on some misspelled hater's protest sign.

The trajectory is set. An upward arc. Increasingly insane.

And it seems clear to most critical thinkers that the issue is not health care anymore. Or even Democrat vs Republicans. Or the census or taxes or guns or abortion or gays.

This is about race. This is about inexorably decreasing white majority status.

This will not end well.

Many of us have been saying so.

This will not end well.

1. I agree.
Where in God's good name are our balls, our convictions?

Why are we letting this happen?

K&R, not that you need it!

3. I don't agree.
I think the right is playing with fire. They're stoking the fire of racism because it suits their interests right now. But racism is only a tool to them, it isn't the base of their success. I think most people will see reason in time; the only question is whether there is enough time.
