The Republican Party is Massively Armed and Dangerous Ready to Kill and We'd Better Face It!
Edited on Sat Apr-10-10 08:34 AM by samplegirl

Among the often unhelpful detritus of our educations, the impulse to create geometric depictions of abstractions can be among the most useless. From the instances in which lines and graphs and diagrams aid understanding we develop a habit of thought which becomes a block to viewing even parts of wider reality.

I remember the line that my dreadful, Bircher, World History teacher drew on the board with Marxism leading to socialism to liberalism, ever upwards (as, I always assumed, he would have it) to moderates to conservatives and on to fascists. And that is the most common graph of political positions which people carry around in their heads.

The present day Republican Party often seems to be rather confused about even that oversimplified convention and is quite willing to throw everything they figure will stick to Barack Obama, at times calling him names that even schematically, make no sense at all. You can chalk that up to the kind of ignorance that our education system, and even more so our mendacious media ensures in this age of insouciant liberty. The people want to be deceived, an ancient Roman said, which I used to take to be an aristocratic insult, and in his formulation it was. And it was exactly in rejection to that kind of aristocratic attitude that the public schools in the United States were instituted in the agricultural society of the 19th century. Among other things, the old public schools were meant as an incubator of democracy. But Ill write more on the schools another time, our depleted and degraded schools arent a major player in this situation. Even the best schools cant compete with the electronic mass media we have, they are the primary and secondary schools, they are the division of continuing education that have produced the American Public as it is today. It is the media which has given us the greatest danger to

Watching the tea party phenomenon, watching Sarah Palin and Scott Brown, Michele Bachman, etc, air headed liars of with nothing but plastic sex appeal and shamelessness to recommend them, as they and their less telegenic cohorts lie and lie and lie its become clear that more than just common ignorance is at play. They really mean it, what they say in the least coded of codes.

This conservatism isnt merely a difference of opinions about the facts that liberals interpret differently. As Ive been constantly shocked to discover, its not that these people believe things that are false, its that they dont care if something isnt true. No amount of proof is going to break through because they dont care that their positions are lies. They arent interested in whats real and what isnt even if its forced on them. Like those folks living on various forms of government assistance who are a surprisingly obvious part of the loony Republican mainstream, their hate and resentment completely overcomes any connection to even their personal situation.

For us and the media to not recognize this is an entirely off chart development in our politics is dangerous, these people have to be exposed for the dangerous crack pots they are because, thanks to the Republican right of the Supreme Court and the gun lobby, they are very heavily armed and dangerous. This has nothing to do with moderate or liberal politics, this is entirely different, it is more like a hostile force intent on destroying democracy and every vestige of progress. Look at how the moderate Republicans in the Senate have acted during the past four years. They are the frontier of the conquered, they dont dare take stands on principle or on evidence or reason that will stir up the FOX - Republican hate talk radio addled right because they know they will be deposed by them. They are worried about challenges from the base of their party, which is now comprised of the crazies. Their capitulation is the hard proof of how dangerous this is.

The old rules of liberal niceness or even the pretenses of moderate civility arent in effect anymore, no one is playing by them except those liberals who you will see on TV or on the radio. You cant reason with these people. The media that pretends this is something to mildly discuss with the two conservabots from the media and guess pools and the obligatory Brookings quisling are engaged in an enablement operation for these people.

Newt Gingrich talked the other day about the 1850s. Ill bet that not two percent of his cheering, addled fans understood the import of that and as they cheered they didnt care. It was a declaration of intent to foment another civil war. The clear statements couched in veiled language for these crackpots who are already armed and dangerous to get ready is incitement to kill. This is very serious and we have to give up our self-deceiving reluctance to face that truth. This is sedition against democracy, it is pathological zealotry. It cant be countered by ACLU rules, they dont intend to be civil with the liberties they have been handed.

Those are real guns and bullets they're stockpiling, they are real explosive devices. They aren't just collectors.

3. Those Democrats who want to treat the Republican party lightly,
who delight in dancing on the grave of a party that is nowhere close to being dead, do so at their own peril.

I'd rather have the last laugh than to have to eat crow or humble pie.

And no, Democrats are not faster than a speeding bullet.

4. so what's the solution?
Take a pro-gun stance? That will make us no better than those we despise.

9. That is a start
Private ownership of firearms is a liberal and progressive value. That includes semi automatic weapons with high capacity magazines.

There are a good deal more pro gun democrats than many of the urban party leaders are willing to acknowledge

12. The simple answer is to treat groups increasingly as Hutaree.
And use military hardware, to drive home any point they dont get. Use ANY moves to dissasociate with the public, as natural conditions for making them targets. If they want to withdraw, dangerously, threatening citizens, they are committing treason. They should be treated accordingly. We ought to herd every revolutionary into free speech cages, on the 19th. And think about letting them back out. Let them piss themselves, crap themselves, to9 have their free speech rights, just like we did.

13. "Take a pro-gun stance?" - um, well DUH, guess you favor the Republican-based VPC?
"Take a pro-gun stance? That will make us no better than those we despise."

Sent in your donation to the Violence Policy Center this month? Though they are funded in general by the Joyce Foundation to the tune of millions of dollars, those anti-gun Republicans will take gladly take your money.

22. Um, yes. Take a pro-gun stance.
It's time we let the wingnuts know that we will not bleed alone if they choose to attack our lives, liberty or property.

5. It is pretty hard to get all worried about a bunch of Cowards.
They are AFRAID of pretty much everything. Fear is what keeps them all in line. Republicans figured that out long ago and that is why for eight years all we heard about was 9-11 and terror. IMO the Hells Angels are more to be feared than some ragged cave dwellers on the other side of the world..It would be nice if America could some day return to being "the Home of the Brave" Their main fault is they think we are as afraid as they are and will be easily intimidated. When any shooting starts I believe they will be in for quite a rude awakening..

6. My take on the whole thing isn't quite so dire.
I lived through Kent State and Vietnam when the government took over and forced people to send their children into a meat grinder in South East Asia.

7. Armed to the gills, dumb as a bag of rocks and easily manipulated.
I'll be out of DC on April 19th, but have already asked everyone I know to keep their eyes open and their heads down. The teahadists are a squirrelly bunch.

On the other hand, maybe we'll get lucky and it'll turn into one huge circular firing squad with no collateral damage.

10. Well, if there is going to be a bloodbath, let's be on with it.
A few rowdy gun totin' crews need the heli gunship treatment. I learned to shoot from the hip, and I aint playin. Yes, there is much talk about secession. Oathkeepers talk about ignoring orders. There will be an uprising. And they say, we should just split. Along some hick, articulate line. Well, I got news for these sick fucks, we have Dems that we will not allow you to exile. We will not allow you to discriminate against. And we would annihilate all you sick fucks to do so.

16. As a former 173rd Airborne "grunt" and former "doorgunner"
on a helicopter "hunter killer" team for the 1st Cav in Nam.......I would love to do a "gun run" on these "right wing" idiots.....Most of these asshole`s never served a day in combat, and if they were in a "combat zone", more than likely.....they were "supply clerks".

I grew up a "liberal hillbilly" from southeastern Kentucky, was raised in the inner city of Cleveland,Ohio......I`m a "street player" from way back in the day.....I got something for them, they`re not gonna like..........I can get pretty nasty, for a liberal "grey boy"......As I like to say about myself......Only thing I would feel about these "wacko right wingers"...is the recoil of the rifle.......because

I`m a " Latte Drinking, Gun-toting, Meat eating, Jeep driving....LIBERAL!!!!!.......Don`t worry, there`s alot of US out here....

The right is blowing smoke out its ass. They did exactly the same thing when Clinton was president.

Most republicans are sniveling cowards, hence their fear of everything.

20. Yes, but the oathkeepers are there to threaten military and civil control coup.
They say there are many. But they wont tell us how many. Why? To act as a veiled threat against any liberal bright ideas, lest they just take away our power, and say no. I hope that the 19th teaches someone something. I would like to see not proper authorization for a mass gun assembly, and confiscation, and IDing every last one of them. Threaten insurrection, YOU LOSE>

Just wait till they get 100 men mowed down, for incitiong rebellion. Get a few Oathkeepers on the stand, about uttering a competing oath. They should be stripped of any perqs, such as pensions. Busted down to nobody. Then, we will see if they are serious.

24. Yup. They'll commit a few acts of random terrorism, under cover of darkness...
...and our nation will survive.

The notion that these gutless, hate-based little cowards
would ever actually rise up in formations to live out
their juvenile RAMBO-fantasies is laughable.

They are COWARDS. FEAR is the foundation of their lives.
That's why they act the way they do.

The internet was around during Clinton and the Lewinsky debacle but I remember a lot of people's attitudes toward computers back then was, "Computers? What am I? Some kind of nerd?" Now EVERYBODY has one.
