Palin, Obama spar from a distance (potential preview of the 2012 White House race)

By LIZ SIDOTI

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - President Barack Obama and Republican Sarah Palin sparred from a distance over nuclear policy with each questioning the other's experience on the issue in a potential preview of the 2012 White House race.

"Unbelievable," Palin said earlier this week after Obama rewrote the U.S. nuclear strategy, and she suggested the president was weak on nuclear defense.

Obama, in Prague to sign a nuclear reduction treaty with Russia, countered by deriding the former Alaska governor who resigned midway through her first term as "not much of an expert" on nuclear issues.

Palin then shot back Friday during a speech to the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans with a reference to Obama's early career choice. Mocking the president, she dismissed "all the vast nuclear experience that he acquired as a community organizer."

7. No, she has the Journalism degree & can't name a magazine
she reads, although she claims to read a 'lot of' magazines.
Maybe she just couldn't pronounce 'The Quarterly Journal of Nukeular Proliferation', when Katie Couric asked her. ??

10. No, she couldn't name a newspaper
But by all means, let the Republicans run Mrs. Palin, the candidate with the extremely short shelf life. She'll have to start running in January 2011, and she'll be cooked by Valentine's Day 2011.

8. Senator Obama actually toured nuke sites all over former Soviet Union and saw the dangers
of "loose nukes" (nukes at poorly guarded sites that could fall into the hands of terrorists) first hand.

As president he probably has learned a lot more than anyone who isn't the President could know.

Palin? She sees "Nukes" in a headline on the cover of People Magazine while getting her hair done...

11. No, what actually happened was George Snaggleoffalpuss asked the president a stupid question
relating to something Stupid Sarah said about bullies in the playground and the President, noticeably annoyed that Snaggleoffalpuss even brought up the comment made by Faux news' latest ignorant reactionary Reich wing contributor, told the truth.

As I've said before, why legitimize what she says by asking the President what he thinks about her imbecilic comments? She's a quitter who lost the last election and should be treated as the irrelevance that she is, not brought up in conversation with the President on national television as if her opinion is important.

This article makes it sound like the President is itching for a fight with Sarah Palin and went out of his way to react to her. When the reality is that he was asked a stupid question about what she said and he just answered with the truth.

And she is supposedly starting her 2012 campaign bringing up the "community organizer" thing again when in fact he's the POTUS? Give. Me. A. Fucking. Break! Being President for over a year means he has more first hand experience on dealing directly with the issues of nuclear weapons than she'll ever have.

12. Why is she even acknowledged?
I saw that shitty interview with George Stuffalotinthis and him asking President Obama about Sarah Palin. WTF? She should not be in any questions to the President, and certainly not about "Nukylar" junk either.

13. Pitiful AP article. I would have been ashamed to have my name on it.
This reads almost like a teaser from TMZ: Angelina and Jennifer in tiff over who would be better for Brad?

Snuggleupagus, did indeed, lower the discourse when he point blank asked the President about the Quitteah from Wasilah's opinion. It is a shame he had to dignify him with a response. It would be almost like asking the Archbishop of Canterbury about John Hagee's position on the Rapture!

he was right. He has to much class to get in the gutter with Palin. She took it there.

18. My sister owns a beauty shop and just about all her customers are 70-80 year old blue-hairs
that still like to wear beehives. She needs their business and just has to grit her teeth every time she hears them wax rapturously about how smart, how very intelligent their Sarah is. She says the only time she jumps in and agrees passionately with them on anything is whenever they say they hope Sarah runs for Prez in 2012. I tell her not to wish too hard. 47% of the population voted for that witch and the Crypt Keeper in 08. And they were ahead until the economy and the market collapsed. If the economy had waited another three months to go south, Grampy might've been six feet under by now--after eating something that disagreed mightily with him--and we'd be stuck with someone that Stephen King called the female equivalent of his character from the Dead Zone, Greg Stillson.

20. a Palin candidacy is a Democratic wet dream . . .
she may have some support now, but when people actually get to know her and realize just how uninformed and unqualified she is, that will change . . . she'll always have the far right fringies, I suppose, but that's really a small percentage of the voting population . . . I can't believe that this country would elect over one of the most intelligent, articulate, and charismatic presidents this country has ever seen . . .

but then again, they did elect Bush . . . twice . . . hmmmm . . .

21. no way.
2012 will be a very complicated time. after 3 debates and all the coverage Palin will be like chalk on a blackboard. Obama will make her irrelevant and do it with with a smile. Obama needs a good challenge from within the party but I do not know if he will get it. It will be weird if the Republicans get more seats in Congress when rationally just the opposite should be happening. Shows how screwed up the Democrats are. Not many of them see what is happening. you have people who have not gotten a raise in 20 years going down the tubes cheering for Palin? this kind of economy is dangerous.
