Ohio Militia Leader: ‘We’re Not Bad Guys’


DAYTON, Ohio—A leader of a militia group in Ohio says it’s not fair to lump his members in with those arrested last weekend and accused of plotting violence.

Michael Craft says his group, the Unorganized Militia of Champaign County, supports law enforcement and isn’t out to overthrow anybody.

The group was one of 13 Ohio organizations identified in a recent report by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks the activities of extremist groups.

Law center spokesman Booth Gunter says many groups don’t appear threatening, but it’s worrisome when people are out in the woods doing paramilitary exercises.
