After an initiative to ban smoking in bars, this would be an interesting twist:

OLYMPIA -- Sen. Ken Jacobsen, D-Seattle, has introduced a bill that would allow dogs in bars.

The dogs would have to be well-behaved and on a leash, but the bill places no other restrictions on them appearing at local watering holes.

Jacobsen said many people already bring their dogs to bars, and it makes for a more pleasant social environment.

Bar owners would be under no obligation to take advantage of the new privilege, but some said they would be happy to see the bill pass.

1. I've known dogs that would probably be better behaved in a bar
than their human owners.

3. Dogs rule in Seattle
they are allowed to ride the city buses with their owners and there are lots of dog parks and dog people are very militant.

In Europe dogs can go into cafes and restaurants with their owners - Sweet!!!

16. Yes, I think I do. I think that's a lot of why I love it.

People think the dog star is Lassie or Rin-Tin-Tin. :dunce:

7. Now that they make beer for dogs, why shouldn't they go to bars?
Wonder how many bars will order kegs of "Happy Tail Ale"?

14. But, but, but what about all the people who are allergic to dogs???
Or the people dressed in black whose clothes would be covered with dog hair? Yeah, that's the ticket. Bring on the dogs!

17. Sounds like a good idea!
Mind you, I can think of a few *people* I've met in bars who might be improved by being 'required to be well-behaved and on a leash'!
