Harry Reid thanks the 36,000 people who signed petition against veto
(I haven't seen this posted and apologize if it's a dupe.)

I want to thank the more than 36,000 of you who signed our petition asking President Bush not to veto the Supplemental Appropriations Bill. A bipartisan majority in Congress voted to fully fund our troops and change the mission in Iraq. The President refused to sign the bill into law. That is his right, but now he has an obligation to explain his plan to responsibly end this war.

President Bush may be content with keeping our troops mired in the middle of an open-ended civil war, but I am not; and neither are most Americans.

In the coming days Democrats will continue to reach out to the President. And we hope Congressional Republicans, who have remained silent throughout this debate will work with us as well.

If President Bush thinks by vetoing this bill he will stop us from working to change the direction of this war, he is mistaken.

Thank you for your continued support,

Harry Reid

36,000 people cared enough to do this. :applause:

Fyi: there are rallys planned today to protest the veto.

2. I don't know if it was posted before but
I appreciate you posting it now. I have been fairly happy with Give em Hell Harry. Not as aggressive as I'd like but the Attila the Hun approach to dealing with bush as I would propose might be a little messy.

4. When I was
still on active duty, I kept a copy of "Leadership Secrets of Attila the Hun" on my desk. Everytime one of my Sailors came to see me (time permitting) they'd have to sit down and read a passage and we'd discuss. Actually a quite enlightening publication on leadership, especially in the boss-subordinate relationship. Don't know if it actually was Attila's secrets but it was very helpful.

6. That doesn't sound like he's caving in to me! I'm hoping they send back the exact bill
the rat bastard vetoed.

C-SPAN had callers during the veto override vote and MOST of the calls were in favor of the override! MOST AMERICANS want us OUT OF IRAQ. The psycho is playing Dictator. The Democrats are on the correct side of this. They can't go wrong.

Go Harry!
Go Nancy!

7. I agree. This isn't the bill that I wanted but Harry and Nancy
are doing a good job of holding their ground and rallying support for their position. They're a good team.
