Tim Kaine is a dumb ass....
At a moment when the extremists are taking pot shots (literally) at Democratic offices around the country and we could really, REALLY take the moral high ground and paint a bright line (for Independent and Liberal Republicans) between the two parties. At a moment when we could be shaming the Republican Party into silence or, alternatively, giving them enough rope to hang themselves on the subject of Healthcare Reform.

The DNC puts out a fund-raising e-mail shilling for $5 campaign contributions for the Democrats who have been threatened.

Five dollars?

Really, Tim? Five dollars?

In twenty-five words or less, Tim, explain to me just how fucking stupid you are. Because right now I'm at a loss for words.

1. Are you saying he should have asked for $50 or $500?
I don't get your point.

5. I'm saying the the moment speaks for itself...
And using it for a fund-raising appeal looks like we're exploiting it.

And doing it for $5 look cheesy.

2. Howard Dean would not be putting up with this shit.
Kaine is more useless than McAuliffe. And I didn't think that was possible.

4. Stupid move - They should not fund raise on this.
Edited on Thu Mar-25-10 02:39 PM by Mass
This gives some ammunitions to the latest GOP talking points, when they had none.

7. Unrec'ed. Why $5? Because in this economy, people won't think twice
about donating $5. Coffee cost $5. A pack of Smokes costs $5. A sandwich costs $5. A plea for $5 might actually bring in more than a plea for $25. If fact, I'm sure Kaine wouldn't mind if someone donated more.

And if it the fundraising in general you are opposed to, then get over it. Fund raising is Kaine's main job.
1. It is only going to Democratic supporters on email lists
2. This type of email goes out every single day. It is called modern politics.

8. Only to Democrats on the list?
It's now on CNN. Are you fucking serious - you think that an e-mail blast doesn't end up in the hands of the mainstream media the moment you hit the "Send" button?

And this was an opportunity to do something different than "modern politics" which most people loathe and despise. It was a way for us to take a position to shame the Republican Party for their rhetoric -- now it just looks like we're making hay. Like we glad this shit is happening because it gave us a fund-raising opportunity.

9. Gasp! You mean the media isn't on our side?

Fund raising happens 24/7 in politics. Getting shocked or upset is silly.

10. Funding raising on this issue is stupid....
So if some whackjob kills one of Nancy Slaughter's kids, maybe we should ask for $20?
