One thing I really don't understand
The Republicans are happy to spend billions to kill people in a way (and please don't tell me they didn't expect any victims) but they are unwilling to spend billions on saving lifes.

What a f*cked up way of thinking is that????

1. Right-wingers think that fighting wars in faraway lands
is "protecting America", while spending money at home on the less fortunate is "throwing money away".

3. As long as they have their sheep dry
aka they have health care and don't have to worry.

I am against Socialism (I am German and grew up in the Communist East Germany, so I know what I am talking about) but a social democracy is way better than pure capitalism

8. Tell them how they can make a profit actually saving lives, and line their election coffers doing so
Edited on Mon Mar-22-10 04:11 AM by 4lbs
and they'll be the first to happily vote for it.

Not how the Government or people can benefit from it, but how they, private shareholders of private corporations can make millions of dollars from saving lives.

Here's the Republican algorithm on whether to vote YEA or NAY on anything:

IF (Company_Profit < 30%) THEN Vote_No()

ELSE IF (Campaign_contributions < Election_Amount_Needed) THEN Vote_No()

ELSE IF ( Stock_Portfolio(now + One_Year) < 2 * Stock_Portfolio(now) ) THEN Vote_No()

ELSE IF ( Rasmussen_Poll < 60% ) THEN Vote_No()

ELSE IF ( Rush_Limbaugh = "NO" ) THEN Vote_No()

ELSE Vote_Yes()

Notice that the concerns and needs of the American people aren't in that algorithm.

11. You know
it makes me sick to think how money and business takes over the government. No matter where in the world. As long as a few can make bucks they are never able to spend.
Something went utterly wrong along the way. But socialism isn't the answer either.
