Obama's Normandy
They wanted it to be his Waterloo, but instead, we have a beachhead from whence we can someday not too long from now win true health care reform for America.

I hope Grayson is our Patton!

7. I Agree
My namesake died at Normandy.

I'd say it was the Republicans La Brea Tar Pits.
They are sinking in their own slime and will soon
become extinct.

8. do you follow the news?
Senator DeMint last summer called for health insurance reform to be Obama's Waterloo. I didn't create the analogy; just turned it on its head. Not exaggerating, which by the way has two g's. Normandy and Waterloo, if you'll check your map, are geographically close, too. Two hours by car, which is close enough for really bad analogies.

I'll admit I have a lot more admiration for Grayson that for Patton, if that's the part to which you object.

10. and in case anyone's confused,
I do think of Obama as on the side of the allies.

As for my dad, he was a British CO in WWII digging up live bombs with a shovel to prove his courage, but we can't all be that enlightened.

12. The Fact That People
still think of politics by using war analogies is not very enlightened as a culture.
It was political chess and Obama won. No blood, no gore, no death.
References to horrific battles that still effect families like mine
is insensitive to the survivors still alive.
I did 3 tours in 'nam. Politics is not war.

14. I like your analogy.....

Edit: True story, yesterday I looked up the La Brea tar pits. My granddaughter goes to college in the L.A. areas and I was teasing her about different places of interest to visit and told her that "you must put them on your list of things to do". Downtown L.A. is not such a good idea tho, thought they were closer to the beach.

11. Patton was benched for Normandy
He wasn't anywhere near there, nor was he a part of the planning or implementation.

15. Bigger than Normandy, Bigger than Lincoln, Bigger than Jefferson
Stop the madness.

Obama's Normandy?

When the unintended consequences of this bill kick in, and the debt crisis wave 2 kicks in that Obama has done nothing but enable,
DUers' slap-in-the-face from Reality is going to be a harsh toke indeed.
