There is a reason why I did not watch this all day. learned that lesson a while ago, and the first time around the speeches were interesting. Today they have been predictable.

they actually explained it well on MSNBC... nobody wants to be first, that way they have the rare chance of going against party, if they get that chance.

The Medicare vote, a fifteen minute vote, remained open for three and a half hours, until Delay and his goons got the votes they needed. Talk about slow... and breaking procedure as well.

6. What's causing the slowdown at this point?
When it started the voting was going very quickly, but there's a bunch of votes trickling in very slowly now, and they aren't all Democrats (I figured the Republicans would immediately vote against en bloc).
