Or trespassing...

6. They still have to stay off the roads, and get permission from each landowner
to cross their privately-owned land, and since it's a free market, the landowners will be within their right to charge the traveler whatever fee they deem fair. Of course, the traveler will be free to negotiate with all adjacent landowners in order to find the lowest cost of passage, but then once they reach the boundary, the process will need to start again with the next landowners. Of course, this will be further complicated by the need to not cross any publicly owned roads.

Should let someone travel from Paducah, Kentucky to Washington DC in 5, 6 years or so.

10. OK Stalin, who will pay for these ramps? Will there be a ramp MANDATE?
Maybe some sort of standard for ramp construction so take off and landing would be safe? UH OH, that sounds like a BIG GUMMINT project!

Help, help! Socialists are everywhere!

:sarcasm:

3. I like your thinking....
Yep if you don't like socialism stay off the roads, pay $10,000 a year for private schools, don't call the police, fire department, go without insurance and on and on......these people don't quite grasp it. They want to go back to a time they don't comprehend fully. Otherwise they wouldn't want to go there.

7. Sadly, they "claim" to support privatized police and fire
and would love to have what they perceive they pay in school taxes to use towards private schools. "If I have one kid who's in public school for 12 years, why do I have to pay the rest of my life? And why do I have to pay for the family with 6 kids?"

20. yeah they do...
and we all know how well privatized fire departments worked on in early 20th century New York- shoot, they put the fires out, just as soon as the two opposing companies beat the hell out of each other first.

25. People like to believe
that there is no way we could drift back to the conditions of the early 20th century. However, we have been drifting in that directions, albeit slowly, ever since Saint Ronny became president. Since then organized labor and public works have been attacked relentlessly.

30. I don't even get what they're bitching about, to be straight honest.
They should LOVE this plan. Completely caters to their corporate insurance heroes. No part of it is government "run". There is no public option. Insurance lobbyists help draw it up and dictate it's terms.

I think they're just being angry for the sake of being angry. Or they just really really really REALLY hate progressives.

They're "angry for the sake of being angry." This is certainly not a government run plan - they just hate Dems, and more to the point, the President. You nailed it.

I swear my epitaph will be "She never paid a toll." I predict that if privatization of this country isn't stopped, you're new rule would become obsolete 20 years.

19. No private company would take over roads
There's no profit in it.

It's ridiculously expensive to build and maintain roads; which is why we pay for them with a multitude of revenue streams from all taxpayers.

Tolls are simply one tool used to let pols claim that they're not raising taxes.

21. They are damn profitable down here...
and as soon as the road is fully paid for, they sell it to outside interests- usually from Spain. They continue to collect tolls, but maintenance goes down the crapper.

22. In case you hadn't noticed, Texas does not reflect the other 49 states
We like "bidness" in the other 49, but not that much.

Have the government create something and then let a corporation make all the profits?

Tough sell.

Too many damn Yankees have moved down here.

Seriously, what makes you think a significant portion of the US would go for such a shameless giveaway to corporations?

Sure, we give away shit to corporations all the time, but only if it's relatively discreet.

the last 30 years? Sure, at one time things were kept relatively discreet. But year after year, they get more and more blatant, and nobody says "boo" about it.

29. Or protest on the Capital Lawn. Or use public transportation to get there.
Which those dope-addled cretins all did on March 20th.

It was so funny. They either dressed in Red, White, Blue or Yellow . . . usually in way-undersized/ill-fitting clothing. The flags were the size of a small county. The slogans were either boilerplate Glenn Beck, boilerplate Sean Hannity, unreadable, racist or just plain dumb.
