I love how many religious fundies are now Libertarians (aka Sociopaths) and Ayn Rand'ers
They adopt the ideas of Ayn Rand when it suits them in their new found ideas of governing and hanging on the money that they have acquired, but confront them with the fact that she was Anti-religion and they fall dumb.

"Faith is the worse curse of mankind, as the exact antithesis and enemy of thought"

"To rest one's case on faith means to concede that reason is on the side of one's enemies- that one has no rational arguments to offer."

"..if devotion to truth is the hallmark of morality, then there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.... the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind. Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged"

I also found several good comparisons between Libertarians and Sociopaths

Libertarians are all about "ME". "I've got mine so screw you". They refuse to sign on to using the government to help people who are less fortunate (I know that's not all they stand for, but a large portion of it)

Sociopath- Someone whose social behavior is extremely abnormal. Sociopaths are interested only in their personal needs and desires, without concern for the effects of their behavior on others. (Compare psychopath.) http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sociopath

Jesus was the DIRECT POLAR OPPOSITE of a Sociopath. He spent his life feeding the poor (FOR FREE), healing the sick (WITHOUT CO-PAY)

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Mahatma Gandhi

1. Calling a Libertarian a sociopath is an insult to sociopaths
Most card carrying Libertarians I've met aren't overtly religious and many were either agnostics or atheists. Many of the Johnny-come-lately so-called Libertarians simply call themselves that because they don't want to associate with the Rovian interpretation of GOP ideology and the batshit crazy Perot flavor of wingnuttyism isn't cool anymore. Some of them quote Ayn Rand without ever actually reading an Ann Rand book simply because that particular quote fits their warped sense of reality (or so they think).

2. I'm not talking about the run of the mill Ron Paul bumpersticker-people
but the ones that attend the mega churches or hold themselves to be super-godly.

3. I've never met one of those who actually professed to being a Libertarian
That's not to say they aren't out there, I just haven't seen them, and I live in Dallas/Fort Worth metromess where megachurches are all over the place. Deep down inside, most religious fanatics hate personal liberty because they feel people should be told how to think and how to live. It's hard to reconcile those beliefs with Libertarianism. I suspect such people who calls themselves Libertarian probably don't understand Libertarian ideology very well.
