Emotional Freedom Technique Helps Viet Nam Veteran Overcome PTSD
This is the powerful video I shot last Sunday at Incopah, the retreat in Willow Creek, CA for veterans with PTSD. Gary Woodings worked with Steve Robinson for about 90 minutes using Emotional Freedom Technique and Steve was able to discharge shocking and horrifying emotional trauma he had been carrying since serving in the US Navy 40 years ago in Viet Nam. The video is edited down to less than 26 minutes and demonstrates the process pretty well. Note that Steve's story is rather graphic and may be disturbing. However, as you watch it, remember that he no longer has these feelings and you don't need to take on their weight either.

NOTE: DU won't allow me to embed this video, so please watch it here:

1. EFT is awesome--
have to be a little careful about exaggerated claims of its efficacy, but in general I think it is a pretty good treatment for stress and depression.

2. PTSD too
I am not making claims, just offering documentary evidence of one very moving experience.

8. from the Emotional Freedom Techniques® website: "Gary Craig... offers EFT as an ordained minister"
Important note: While EFT has produced remarkable clinical results, it must still be considered to be in the experimental stage and thus practitioners and the public must take complete responsibility for their use of it. Further, Gary Craig is not a licensed health professional and offers EFT as an ordained minister and as a personal performance coach. Please consult qualified health practitioners regarding your use of EFT.

9. Yeah, I'm ignorant, but a red flag flaps when I hear a quick-cure,like re-programming or
"turning" people "Straight."

10. O.K., I watched it all so I gave it a chance.

I don't have any professional mental health credentials. It might be spin from the VA attempting to discredit PTSD claims, but "they" say it's not PTSD if you are re-telling what somebody else told you about a trauma, as opposed of DIRECTLY experiencing the blood yourself.

This fellow in the video didn't SEE the killing, rape, mutilation himself. He's supposedly been traumatized for 40 yrs from BEING TOLD of the killing, rape, mutilation by somebody else.

The practitioner in the video stopped the emotional outbursts or breakdowns as they occurred, then got him to take breaths, touched him, got him to touch himself, flap his arms, jump up and down. Yeah, I can accept that doing something physical will snap you out of an immediate emotion.

I don't know the philosophical base/ theory/doctrine or whatever underpinnings of this technique, and I won't call it psycho-babble or cultish at this point. I'll just say I can accept that doing something physical will snap you out of an immediate emotion. But as for a "cure" for PTSD or some profound psychological condition... (I'm leaning to "no")
