There's so much bullshit in this nation, someone who speaks the truth is considered an "extremist", a "radical", or whatever.

9. I have been labeled as being a Rovian, republican, GOPer
Edited on Tue Mar-16-10 08:57 PM by MUAD_DIB
by those who aren't able to defend their positions.

A progressive, to me, is not one that makes statements that can be easily pulled apart or questioned without at least having a stronger defense that is not based on "Fuck You."

19. Yeah, no kidding
If I'm not getting called a "radical" progressive, I'm getting called a freeper. It's amazing the way the tone of the board has changed since Obama was elected.

no one in Congress would have. That is why they hate him.

too could be considered bullshit.

7. Norman Solomon today:
Norman Solomon
Cold war liberals went witch-hunting against "premature anti-fascists" sixty years ago; reminds me of how Dennis Kucinich is now under attack for being, in effect, a "post-mature pro-public-optionist." Some of the same forces (e.g. MoveOn) that spent all last year touting a public option as essential are now attacking Kucinich for his insistence on a public option........

11. And the question that really comes to mind is; If the Democrats were going to pass this bill via
Reconciliation, why did they not include a Single Payer or Public Option from the get-go?

flaking for the powerful interests/politicians against the little guy, IMO. I wonder when they will come out demonizing and blacklisting folks who speak out against Obama's war escalation.

10. When people like Beck and Limbaugh have the microphone
and poisen the masses against watching out for the fellow man and righ is wrong and up is down....

Compassion is evil and socialist
Healthcare is evil and socialist
Civil Rights for all Americans is evil
History can be rewritten to sow the extreme Rightest Agenda...

I say this, I now understand how a progressive Germany capsized and became a radical insane nation. I am looking at the period before the wars.....the indoctriniation of the young and the ignorant. The self loathing and self hatred of failure.......a bad economy after WWI.

This is just the beginning they right wing facist feel empowered, Texas is now going to give Phylis Shafely a place in the history books and remove references to Thurgold Marshall. Reagan is being elevated to the level of a saviour...this is how it happens........

Can America pull back from the brink? I don't know.....

18. Any true activist knows this - you are a threat to their mindset and comfort level

Literally, people see you as a threat.

They can't handle the implications of the truth, and they are so fearful of what that means - the fight or flight kicks in.

They are fleeing from their fear. And, as you are the messenger for what they are fleeing from in desperation, YOU become the threat.

So, they ignore you, dismiss you, laugh at you, threaten you...anything to make the fear go away.

The only problem for them is that the messenger isn't the threat. The truth remains true whether is is known or not.

That is why it takes a crisis for change to occur. In a crisis, there is no where to run. You either confront it or it wins.

22. That's the Truth
As an activist I've seen it a hundred times.

You bring forward a truth that others have either avoided, or even innocently overlooked, and they want to kill the you, the messenger.

Sometimes, too, you make them look like friggin idiots.

20. Oh, no kiddng. We're so co-opted, just speaking up
is some kind of taboo.

Forget about "truth", what about just asking reasonable questions?

23. Not as radical to speak the truth as it is unusual to know it.
There is practically no end of volunteers to speak the "truth" now. Come on. It's not radical any more. We're awash in deeply sincere idiocy.

27. The Right is now in NEOCON territory
The Right is Neocon territory, (the GOP)
what used to be Right, anyway.

The DLC is now what the GOP right used to be.

The Democrats, many of them, are what used to be the RIGHT.

the only people left who are actually left wing and liberal minded are called radical progressives, which is what many Dems USED to be.

the whole thing has shifted .

if you are what Dems used to be, pro union, pro workers, anti war, anti corporatist..you are now considered on the fringe..even by fellow democrats who bought into GOP policies..

ugly , indeed.

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." ~ John F. Kennedy
