Even Alabama's got a team named after menstration.
What's florida got? A lizard, a Native American mascot, and a fish that thinks it's a chimp.

57. Congrats on that--- but can your Baseball team say this?
In addition to its success in football, UM has experienced national success with its baseball program, winning four national championships (1982, 1985, 1999 and 2001) and reaching the College World Series 22 times in the 33 seasons since 1974.

Edited on Tue May-01-07 09:06 PM by Twillig
The O-State Ballaz have been to two CWS and won One.

Sticking to the Oregon State University, and ignoring all others, especially that place to the south:

Dick Fosbury (he of the famous flop!)
Chad Johnson (ocho cinco!)
T.J. Houshmandzadeh (who's yo momma?)
Steven (football) Jackson

LINUS freakin' Pauling.

Arizona! This is how the ring look.
ASU! This is how the ring look.
California! This is how the ring look.
UCLA! This is how the ring look.
USC! This is how the ring look.
U-Dub! This is how the ring look.
Wazzu! This is how the ring look.

And Texas you ‘bout to get GOT your ring took.

14. No apology from this Floridian.
I lived most of my life on a Florida barrier island, Cocoa Beach. Even when I was there (I live in CT now), we viewed the mainlanders as strange creatures. Florida is a seriously fucked up state. I'm glad I left.

31. As many of my contemporaries have observed...
"Florida is a great state to be from."

That's how I feel. My upbringing was like the Flipper movie...cruising the mangrove swamps in airboats, catching dinner in surf nets. Hell, I got laid for the first time on a tiny island in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway. I have nothing but good memories of my upbrining on a Florida barrier island. But the Florida mainland is like a whole other country. It's Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and New England all rolled into one. It's fucked up, seriously. I'm glad you dig it. How's the shuffleboard?

born and raised in NY - lived in Northern VA for more than 20 years and now live down the road from Cocoa Beach and you are SO RIGHT Florida is a seriously FUCKED up state - many unfriendly, stupid and RACIST people. I have had more racisit "incidents" in the two years I've lived here then the rest of my life....I guess they think since I'm white they can say the most OUTRAGEOUS things and anticipate that I share their ridiculous views.

But being close to the ocean is a good thing - a goal I had - but truthfully don't know if I'll be able to stay here.....

33. trumad... I Usually Like Your Posts, HOWEVER... I've Lived Here
in Florida since 1971! Back then things were very different! My husband is a NATIVE, but I'm not so crazy about this place anymore.

And to add to my distress KATHERINE HARRIS was my Representative for WAAAAAAAAAY to long, now we have " A Kathy Dent" as Supervisor of Elections in my County, who STILL insists that Electronic voting machines will be used in our next Election!!

It truly truly sucks!!! I will give you this much, DEMOCRATS here are getting more VOCAL than anytime since 2000 for sure! Not that we get much coverage from "the media" here, but more and more are very fed up!!!

We demonstrated last Saturday for IMPEACHMENT and not one word was even written or reported about it that I know of. Many, many cars and passer-bys were very supportive of our efforts, yet nothing was reported so far. And let's not forget that Christine Jennings is STILL contesting the loss of 18,000 plus votes from last November!

Pure nonsense for sure that this has yet to be concluded!!

There were virtually no shells. Also, the gulf water was swamp brown and brackish from Everglades run-off.

Like most of the state, it has been systematically destroyed and desecrated by runaway development.

It's FLAT, ugly, corn and bean fields everywhere, it's hot as hell in the summer, the humidity melts you, the winters SUCK. and Chicago politicians are er, uuhhhhh...very creative? OK, now it's your turn. Bash Illinois all you want! I've lived here forever and really couldn't care less if people bash the state. Now, I WILL defend my Senators and DEMOCRATIC politicians if they're attacked...at least they're DEMOCRATS and Illinois is BLUE, BLUE, BLUE!! That's the best the state has to offer actually.

Florida SUCKS! ESPECIALLY when the psycho's brother was ruling the state. WTF were the people of FL. thinking???? JEB BUSH FOR GOVERNOR??? TWICE???? :wtf: I won't even go into the purged voter rolls, the election fraud, evoting machines and the stolen election. I'll just leave it at...FL. SUCKS.

the anti-tax crazies
the neo-nazi crazies
the anti-choice crazies
the anti-children crazies (both the elderly "i hate kids" crazies and the younger "anti-breeder" crazies
the entire crew of morons running Allegheny county next door to my county...which is causing the folks to move to our county and screwing up our roads and taking over more farmland to build mega mansion ..
both the mentally defective democrats and republicans in the state assembly...who are an embarrassment to us all..

the list could go on forever...

69. All I know about Florida is that you have to have blood thicker than molasses
to live there.

And you have my permission to trash Missouri all you want.

One question, though. Why do you care so much about what people say about Florida? You're not the Director of Tourism, are you?
