Media blackout on U.S. troop deaths
The deadliest month yet in Iraq, with 5 troops killed over the weekend and over 100 killed in the month of April, and Fox News was talking about Natalie Holloway (Remember her?!), MSNBC reported on Anna Nicole's baby, and CNN just reported on a campus non-shooting.

I couldn't help but notice, what with Imus, then the VT massacre, then Rosie leaving The View, that the mainstream media has all but totally lost interest in the Iraq war. It's almost as if someone in high places has instructed them to "give the surge a chance", if you will. I've even noticed a marked increase in "positive" "stories" about how the Iraqi army is being trained and beginning to take over operations, how U.S. service men and women are helping Iraqi civilians and doing humanitarian type work.

In the weeks and months following "Mission accomplished", the mainstream media couldn't cover the war enough. Now, approaching the 4th year of that misguided PR stunt, with over 3000 soldiers dead and more dying at a rate of 2 to 3 every day, it's relegated to the crawl at the bottom of the screen. Pathetic.

2. CNN Headline News just had a brief blurb on the casualties.
April was the sixth deadliest month since the War began, they announced.

6. Latest on the bombing
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/4688FB01-2A9F-4A32-888C-B1696637946C.htm

<snip>
Up to a dozen loud explosions have rocked central Baghdad as armed groups continued to target civilians and police in the country's capital.

The sound of sirens coming from the Green Zone could be heard across the city after the blasts after nightfall on Monday, which sounded like mortar bombs or rockets.

Smoke was seen rising from the government compound at the Green Zone which houses the US and British embassies as well as Iraqi government buildings.

A US military spokesman said he had no immediate information on the blasts. US embassy officials could not be reached for comment.

3. PBS shows the dead soldiers but I don't think they mention
the total count.

but Bartcop does.

Bush's "Bring 'em on" death taunt is up to...

3,337....3,351 American victims

3,351 families destroyed by Bush greed.

4. Beyond pathetic
A co-worker today told me about her weekend. She went to some college graduation in the mid-west. Bill Clinton spoke. She was so moved to the moment of silence and remembrance that was given for the students murdered in Virginia. Not a mention of those former students killed in Iraq this week. Just unbelievable...

8. The last word in your post says it all.
They have to be the most pathetic bunch of crooks in American history. I hope they all stand trial for gross negligence and dereliction of duty for reporting the truth.

Shame on them all.
