Wow, Heckuva Job arne!
http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/03/09/rhode.island.school.battle/index.html?hpt=C1

"Central Falls, Rhode Island (CNN) -- Graduates of the nation's most vilified high school descended upon campus Tuesday evening to support the school's fired teachers. They also had a message for President Obama: Don't bash our school.

"He doesn't know us. He doesn't know the teachers. He doesn't know the students," said Nikko Calle, 21, a graduate of Central Falls High School in 2006. "I think it's a real outrage what's happening here."

Nearby, Ashley Delgado, 19, stood on the school's steps clutching a sign that read: "Dear Obama, I supported you, your causes, goals and beliefs. Why aren't you supporting mine?"

A firestorm has erupted in this Democratic stronghold in recent weeks after 93 teachers, support staff and administrators at Central Falls High School were fired for the low performance of the school, which graduated just 48 percent of its seniors last year. The firings will go into effect at the end of the school year. Teachers can re-apply, but no more than 50 percent will get rehired."

This won't end well.

1. there are just times the administration needs a muzzle
this was one of them.

Another was the statement of support for an execution before the trial

Can they really not see that these comments can do at least as much damage as good.

2. They are trying to do the same to a few schools where I used to work.
I think they'll get the same response there. It's a relatively small community, and everyone knows how much the teachers invest in what they do. Obama and Duncan must have thought that teachers would be an easy target to bash, so they could gain themselves some "street cred" as educational innovators. Now they're caught in a whole that they won't easily get out of. And it's the Democratic party and therefore the little people who will suffer in the long run.

Ignorance and arrogance are never a good combination.

3. Small Communities, Rural Schools Are Being Ignored
The entire focus seems to be on urban schools. Yes, they have issues, but so so we (small, rural schools, especially those with a high poverty rate, like Central Falls).
