Afraid of the upcoming blood bath in Nov?
Do something about it. Find some group that is working for the causes you support and join in the fight.

In CA you can join the Courage Campaign. http://www.couragecampaign.org/

Or here are a couple more that are getting organized right now.

Join Organizing for America supporting Barack Obama and the DNC.

2. How can I volunteer for this?
Hopeless corruption, banker bailouts as far as the eye can see, broken promises strewn everywhere, a total disconnect between the political class and the working class, a continuation of neocon foreign policy, the relentless undermining of the normal Joe's standard of living...

If the politicians who want to be re-elected can't bring themselves to actually do some good for the country (rather than their personal friends and campaign donors)... why should we make any sacrifice on their behalf?

4. Thank You!!
I don't know anything about this "coffee party" business, but I couldn't agree more on your "do something/offer solutions" message. Most of the postings here regarding the alleged "bloodbath in November" are geared toward discouraging Democrats, mainly to keep them from going out and voting. They are just more parroting of the M$M talking heads, and I'm sick of it.

5. Vote - Nothing more important..
Convince people who are sitting out the election out of protest that putting Republicans in charge isn't the best punishment, the equivalent of cutting off our face to spite your nose.

Look at individual candidates and find those you can support with money or time.

There is a strong case of Nader-is-Right Syndrome, a terrible malady in which bitter, angry voters believe that Nader is right when he says there is no difference between the parties. This is related to the Kucinich-is-the-greatest-single-liberal-progressive-Democrat-in-the-U.S.-and-it-doesn't matter-if-he-never-does-anything syndrome.

6. Why would DUers be afraid of a blood bath?
Isn't that what so many posters here want? Don't they think that somehow a Democratic catastrophe at the polls will magically usher in a golden age of progressive bliss?

I'm so confused.

7. I don't believe in this "bloodbath"
There is a sizeable democratic majority in both houses of congress. The campaigns have not begun. The republicans have no solutions. The disaffected democrats to the left of Obama (me and everyone i know) aren't about to stay home or vote for republicans.

The majorities may (will) shrink, but i'd give the odds of the House falling to the repukes at about 20%.

8. The odds would be less if you and everyone you knew. . .
used your energy constructively to encourage rather than to spread doom and gloom.

You don't think you and yours have it in you to be a destructive force. I hope you're right, but I think you underestimate yourselves.

11. You aren't talking to "conservatives"
They think they're scoring big both with the energizing of their base and with the very disaffection that you referred to.

EDIT:
