1. Leni Riefenstahl is eons away from the rest .... male or female
One of the top Five of the Twentieth century.

If only she was born in another place or time. what a shame.

2. As evil as she was, Riefenstahl was an absolute genius with film.
I watched a documentary on her life a few years ago and right during one of the interview segments she paused to complain about how the filmmakers were composing the shot of her. She insisted they film it her way instead, and she was right, it was a huge improvement.

She also deserves credit for her remarkable edit of The Blue Light. She had to redo it entirely by hand in a marathon editing session after the original editor turned in a poor cut. Clearly the woman was a control freak with a gift that she was unfortunately willing to allow the Nazis to exploit.
