Gore Hires Political Operative & Adds to His Political Infrastructure
April 29, 2007

Gore Group Makes a Political Hire

Al Gore's new environmental advocacy group has hired a Democratic political operative with experience in the last two presidential cycles, a Gore spokeswoman, Kalee Kreider, confirmed.

The Alliance for Climate Protection, which Gore chairs, hired Brian Hardwick away from Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, the company co-founded by Clinton pollster Mark Penn. Hardwick was a vice president in the New York office.

Previously, Hardwick was deputy campaign manager for Joe Lieberman in 2004. In 2000, when Gore ran for president, he worked in the fundraising operation.

Gore has responded dismissively to suggestions that he could be a late entrant into the 2008 Democratic presidential primary, but he has not ruled out the option. And he retains the political infrastructure to make a decision to run.

27. Sally, I don't think so. The science and scientists behind it -
are not just valid, they are world-renowned. Of course the creationists and neocons and fundies will say it - but they don't make up a whole lot of the US voters, they can just get stirred up by their preachers and stuff.

But thinking people going to the polls? You think they'd vote for McCain? Guialliani? Romney? Thinking people? Nah.

It's up to us still-whacko acivists to make sure people who THINK get out and vote. Most of it is apathy or despair. If we get a candidate who offers HOPE.........

That's where we win.

I was actually making the point that there are not that many THINKING people going to the polls considering that was allowed to happen. I know DAMN WELL what took place and that WE THE PEOPLE swept it under the rug for all OUR TALK about it which never goes beyond TALK. Perhaps you then need to get a grip on your grudges before responding with your own bs.

22. An entertaining theory:
The delegates won in the primaries are split so no one gets the 270 needed, assisted by the early clumping of primaries (people don't get to vote for the "winner" becasue they don't know who it will be). Gore gets drafted at the convention.

Possible?

34. He hired a fundraiser to help with his environmental endeavors
But I suppose that title isn't exciting enough to get on the greatest page because the climate crisis is just secondary. And gee, the link in the OP story regarding the hinting to him running is from FOX news. Real credible. I also find it hard to believe that all of the money from An Inconvenient Truth and Live Earth is going to an organization that is a front for a clandestine political campaign. It sounds deceptive, seedy, and not like him at all, and frankly, the intimations in these posts that that is really what this is all about are getting old.

36. I think that people really want him to run again
because he deserves it and also because if he is President, then we know he would be the most aggressive on climate change out of everyone that we have to pick from now.
In addition, he is an expert on foreign affairs.
Among many other things.

The time is right for him, if he wants it.

37. The climate crisis is primary, and only a President can fix it.
Not some guy doing simple slideshows all over the country.

There's a reason Al Gore trained 1000 people to do his slideshow.

And it's not 'cause he plans to keep on doing it, that's for damn sure.

38. "some guy doing a slide show?" How rude
Edited on Mon Apr-30-07 05:48 AM by RestoreGore
He isn't just "some guy" doing a slide show. He is a global environmental ambassador and he is making great progress on this from where he is. Too bad so many are so occupied with political rhetoric that they don't truly appreciate it. What an ignorant arrogant remark. I hope if he reads remarks like yours that he sees the truth about what is really behind all of this political wrangling and harrassing because it "damn sure" isn't respect for him or his work. And FYI, there is word he may even continue training this year and is already training people in South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa who I may remind you DON'T VOTE HERE because this truth and the tools he is giving them are needed especially in Africa, and because GRASSROOTS action is THE ONLY WAY to make progress on this crisis now that the political BS artists in Washington DC have wasted too much time IGNORING this issue.

And gee, I don't see anything Earth shattering happening yet up on that toxic hill even after his visit there. But that is no surprise since NO PRESIDENT, even those with Democratic majorities have done ANYTHING to solve this crisis in the last thirty years and it isn't going to happen now even with Democrats in Congress because they are now too busy having a war of words with Bush and using this war for their 08 platform instead of kicking his ass out so that we CAN do something about it at a federal level.

Therefore, it is THE PEOPLE who have taken it into their hands in states, municipalities, businesses, and homes across this country because of Mr. Gore and his statesmanship and advocacy which is now so important to maintaining momentum for progress in averting a true planetary disaster. And FYI, that is damn important. It is obvious however, that you aren't one of those people, so again, the disrespect for his work is well noted. Some of you really need to get into the real world here because it is melting as I type and no one election is going to stop that now no matter who sits in that house so many are so obsessed with. However, we can mitigate other serious affects if WE join together now globally and that is exactly the important work he is doing now. Just a guy doing a slide show. How rude.
