NOW calls for NY Gov. Paterson to resign
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 10:43 AM by The Northerner
ALBANY, N.Y. — The National Organization for Women is urging New York Gov. David Paterson to resign because of a report he directed two staffers to contact a woman about a domestic violence case involving one of his top aides.

NOW New York State President Marcia Pappas said on Tuesday it's inappropriate for Paterson to have any contact with a victim of alleged violence.

The group is highly influential in Democratic politics and has a record of strong support for Paterson and his efforts to combat domestic violence.

She says that despite his excellent record on women's issues, it's time for him to step down.

The New York Times reported that Paterson contacted a woman who accused former aide David Johnson. Paterson denies he tried to get her to change her story or drop the charge against Johnson.

4. The Governor has a great record on many things, including marriage equality, but...
his reported actions in this case border on the criminal. People have been indicted for attempting to intimidate a witness on a lesser scale.

I'm sorry, but the Governor has got to go.
