CNN - "Boehner imagines being Speaker" - So, Who Is Being Arrogant?
I guess John Boehner is already getting comfortable as Speaker of the House. And, the Republicans accuse President Obama of being arrogant? Amazing.

Washington (CNN) - In his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference last week, House Minority Leader John Boehner asked the crowd to imagine what Congress would look like if he became Speaker of the House - a prospect that has become more likely as the political environment sours for Democrats.

A confident-sounding Boehner continued to float that possibility on Thursday after the bipartisan health care summit with President Obama in a post-meeting question and answer session with YouTube users. Video of his chat which was posted Friday morning.

"If I become Speaker of the House, we are going to run the House differently, different from the current majority and from past Republican ones," he promised, answering a question from a YouTube user who demanded that legislators read lengthy bills before voting on them.

"And if I become Speaker there will be a 72 hour reading period before any bill is brought to the floor," the Ohio Republican added, repeating a pledge he made at CPAC.

1. Well, all you have to do is imagine hell on earth.
Because that's what will happen if Boner gets that position.

4. He can make all these promises
Because he knows he'll never have to keep them. I wonder if CNN has counted the House numbers? The Democrats have a bigger majority right now than any the Republicans have had since 1994. The Republicans are broke. Where in the world are they going to get the funds, let alone the candidates, to unseat Democratic incumbents?

6. You know, General Custer was really overconfident and arrogant too
And look what a nasty surprise he got.

Boehner is Bob Michel Part Deux, he'll be GOP leader on long time, but never the Speaker.

8. Arrogant, a reach...
Yes, he's an a-hole for a whole bunch of reason, but he's making a speech to his base asking them to imagine what could be done if their party was in power, and he was speaker. It's not like he's giving an interview in Rolling Stone, saying "man, If I was speaker...". It's the Rah-Rah speech that politicians of both parties give.

I hope such a travesty never comes to pass, but I'm not going to take any special umbrage to this either.

9. Boehner is an idiot if he thinks he has a chance as speaker
I gather Rep. Canter will overthrow him shortly. That should be his concerned, right about now.

10. I spent the 90's believing Newt Gingrich was one of the most
insincere and probably stupid Repugs ever to have any sort of power. Boehner is less intelligent, and might not even know what sincerity is. He's less clever than Denny Hastert. And he will fall to the Gingrich rule---he isn't a good leader, and will need to be replaced by a Republican who doesn't cry like a baby and whine all the time. I think, going by their current ethos, they should want Trent Franks or Michelle Bachmann representing them--lots of Tea Partyist ethos--sound and fury, signifying, stridency and the kicking up of the pricks. Wouldn't that be fun?
