5. I wonder if he'd
support an increase in the amount you can spend while using foodstamps? One big problem with food stamps is the inability to buy enough high quality fresh food because you only have a small amount to spend and it leads to processed foods more often than not.

I doubt Coburn the bullshit doctor would make a simple connection like that though.

7. Well, we better eliminate them right away!
Starving is so much better than diabetes.

Can he be any more a dickhead? Don't answer that. I'm pretty sure I know the answer.

11. While that is certainly crazy talk
one thing I like about the WIC program is that choices are limited to specific nutritional groups and choices to make up a healthy diet. For example, you can buy Cheerios but not cereals with sugar as the first ingredient.

While I know that this will get me hammered here, I think it would be beneficial.

I would couple this with programs to eliminate food deserts, emphasis on farmer's markets and educational programs on nutritious eating and economical meal preparation, even if all you have is a hot plate and a microwave.

13. Poverty can cause type 2 diabetes with poor food choices being all that is available.
Edited on Thu Feb-25-10 12:08 PM by Jennicut
Type 1 juvenile diabetes is caused by a the pancreas not making insulin or making very little.
