MarketWatch: Americans losing hope on finding work
Americans losing hope on finding work
Commentary: Growing economy isn't creating enough jobs

By MarketWatch

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Rarely have Americans been more pessimistic about an economy that's growing so well.

The official statistics may show that the economy is growing close to its long-term rate of 3% and that job losses are lessening, but the people don't see it. They are losing hope that the economic recovery will lead to more jobs any time soon.

U.S. consumer confidence plunged in February, according to the Conference Board's survey of 5,000 Americans released Tuesday. Read our complete story on the confidence index.

About half of Americans say jobs are hard to get now, and a quarter of them say there will be fewer jobs in six months than there are now, according to the Conference Board survey. The economy may not get any worse, but few think it's going to get much better. ...........(more)

3. No, shit, Sherlock, and out of that variety of hopelessness
is going to arise a hell of a lot of public rage. The plutocracy will eventually reap the whirlwind unless they relax the purse strings.

5. "Consumer attitudes are much worse than justified by the official data."
Could this be a clue that the official statistics are bullshit?

7. Last decade we had two recessions and two recoveries
--and not ONE SINGLE GODDAM JOB was created. "Growing" into the new normal is definitely cause for despair.
