US Geological Survey: 6.8 magnitude earthquake rocks China-Russia-North Korea border region

BEIJING - The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a 6.8 magnitude earthquake has struck the China-Russia-North Korea border region.

The temblor struck about 9:15 Thursday morning Beijing time. Office towers in downtown Beijing swayed slightly for about a minute.

The USGS says the epicenter of the quake was 61 miles (98 kilometres) west-southwest of Vladivostok, Russia and about 70 miles (113 kilometres) east from Yanji city in northeast China's Jilin province.

5. It always cracks me up that they go to the WEATHER GUY
on the local stations when an earthquake happens out here... as if it's a weather-related thing.. and after a while we get some real experts on who are subjected to the most inane questions..
